Okay here goes, My name is Sharla, I'm an Ordained Minister (ULC) and Equal Rights Activist which I've been since the mid-80s though I've always supprted Equal Rights from childhood. I grew up from 57-present (still working on though I hope it never really happens, I'll be 50 in Jan.). I have a vast amount of experience working both within and without the LGBT community including several years as an Officer (Media Coordinator/Secy Treasure) on the Lesbian and Gay Pride Committee of Boston in the mid-80s into the 90s. I have led workshops, been featured on radio programs regarding several issues in the larger community, most recently a feature on Gays in the Military in 2003 in addition to a segment on Polyamory and have attended many Conferences/Marches overall. In addition, I'm also a founding member of more than one LGBT organization one National in '87 and one Local '89 (Texas).

Here's the event that needs IMMEDIATE ACTION which is more importat than any more of my details at the moment:

please write an e-mail to office@mateel.org and ask them to either CANCEL TONIGHT'S SHOW and/or kick Buju off stage if/when he starts bashing LGBT (or anyone else for that matter). Here's a copy of my letter, the show's tonight so get busy now y'all here:

After reading this article on a local Community board, I wanted to write to ask and request the following? I realize this is short notice but if I had seen this article sooner I would have emailed earlier as well but it's still not too late on your end:

Are you not more DIVERSE and SUPPROTIVE of DIVERSITY than a LA Nightclub or Humboldt State University (Past Boycott 2004-2005)?.

SPEAK OUT AGAINST DISCRIMINATION.
OR AT THE VERY LEAST KICK HIM OFF STAGE WHEN HE STARTS SINGING SONGS THAT BASH LGBT FOLKS OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER, THERE'S NO PLACE FOR ANGER/BASHING/HATRED IN OUR COMMUNITY NOR SHOULD THERE BE IN YOUR CENTER. THERE ARE A LOT OF US UP HERE AND OUR TICKET SALES SUPPORT YOUR SHOWS.

Please take a moment to search your heart and soul, put yourself in the shoes of others who may be at your shows and realize we are a diverse community with many elements and all this type of energy does is work to support bigotry, hatred and eventually warring at both home and abroad.

Although I travel often, I hope to attend more of our local Pride events in futuretime, my husband and I both attended in 2000, hopefully we'll be home again for the next one as it would be nice to see everyone and party together with our community on the plaza. BTW does anyone have the date for that event? Thanks.
