My favorite place to say in BKK is the Pinnacle Lumpinii. It's a nice, very gay-friendly hotel in a very convenient location (a short walk to MRT underground), but can be pricey - espcially in high season. Fortunately there's great way to get discount reservations (abt 60%of the advertised rates) if you contact Jimmy:
