Re: why don't people like liquorice?
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 10:12 PMPhilistine!
Licorice is NOT icky. It is one of the main food groups. And I agree...red licorice is NOT licorice at all. Its dehydrated blancmange with red die in it.
Has anyone ever had salt and pepper licorice?
I got some from a friend in Sweden. It ROCKS! -

Re: why don't people like liquorice?
Sat, February 9, 2008 - 10:33 PMTruly? I have a bottle on my counter. Sadly it is covered in dust. Not something one generally drink alone.... and then when I bring it out I get the "eww it tastes like licorice." comments.
What is it with people these days. I bottle of Pastis and a pitcher of ice water on a summer day... what could be finer.
I'm heading to the kitchen now -

so...in a round about way
Sun, February 17, 2008 - 12:09 AMI had my own gardening business for a while
and this one property that I maintained had a delightful springtime tulip garden...variety of colors, very bright and soothing.
The deer that frequented the neighborhood used this property as their own Oregon Trial of sorts.
deer love tulip blossoms, so the beauty was short lived
Of course they never ate the black blooms
I'm just sayin' -

Re: so...in a round about way
Sun, February 17, 2008 - 1:50 AMI like licorice, but my teeth don't, lol. Anise has the same taste(I think that is where they get the flavor from), but the texture of seeds, vs. gummy substance isn't the same, so...no licorice for me. :(
