Just wanted to say THANKS for taking the time & effort to share this wonderful info etc with others. I've spent a lot of time, over the past decade or so, looking for similar info online. Very hard to come by. This has been an inspiration and a big help to me. Thank you! :)

Tue, July 18, 2006 - 11:37 PMHey,
Thanks for your encouragement.
We've been hard at it for a couple of years and are now fully reaping the fruits of our labour and ideas.
The place feels even more sensational every week. We just went and picked up Michelle's 100 year old pian and wood stove, so it's getting funkier and more functional all the time.
It's incredible to continually be surprised by what can happen when you decide to take a chance, experiment and build something unique.
I wish everyone encouragement and a wish of confidence - learn the rules, then break them until you feel like you're creating a real HOME, not just another boxy residential structure.

Wed, August 1, 2007 - 1:36 PMHello Will, Michelle,
We've read your posts and enjoyed your pics and movie. It's wonderful how your home fits right into the landscape. It's inspirational for us who've been planning to build a quonset home for several years near Georgian Bay.
I agree absolutely with your thoughts on polyurethane insulation. Fortunately, I've got some experience applying this stuff and will not hesitate to rent the equipment and do it myself. I also agree with your other recommendations though I'll be opting for the concrete floor. I think the wood floor made good sense in your environment, though we'll likely be building in a flat open area suited for passive geothermal heating. Also, the building site will not be far from a paved road, so getting cement trucks in will not be a problem.
You've got a lovely bit of heaven there, and I know how spiritually uplifting the mountains can be. Our present living is rather suburban (in Niagara), but we've got a lovely private garden and a pretty cool livingspace. Still, we yearn for the chill of our beloved Georgian Bay and will be buying a property up there, we hope, this year. We've already been looking for a couple years and haven't yet found the just right spot in our price range, but some sites have come up recently that look promising.
All the best,
Ron and Mariko
