A loyal cat

I've never thought of cats being loyal, just that they choose to live with us.
This past weekend, with friends over, my year and a half old Rosie seemed to only tolerate the new guests. What I did notice was that she hung around by me, where-ever I went in the house and gave me looks as if to say: "I'm glad you're my one and only".
Rosie will also make friends with anyone who talks to her; but, be they quiet...she may not even let them touch her!
Just nice to have a cat that knows her family and will stay by us.

Wondering if this is a ragdoll trait

All the cats I've ever had liked to bring me presents, both alive and dead except Gizmo, my ragdoll. I'm not complaining about this as I would prefer not to get those kind of gifts. He always seemed confused when the others would bring in a mouse or bird and he would just stare at it. In fact when I had hamsters and would let them run around he would watch them, but if they started to come in his direction he took off running.

There was one time though when he did try his hand at it. He came running in making that meowing sound they make when they catch something. I had never heard him make that sound before and thought he was sick :) But he looked up at me, very proud of himself with dirt all over his face, and proceeded to drop a live earthworm on the book I was reading. That was the only time he did that in 8 years, but that might be because my cats are indoor cats only now.

So I'm wondering if all or most ragdolls are like this. Do yours hunt?

Picturing those blue eyes!

Our kitties can look wild with their eyes whited-out in photos, but I've found that you must turn your flash off on the camera and set it on a tripod to capture the blue.
The tripod will make a difference in sharpness...especially if the subject stays still for a second!
Good luck...hope this helps bring in more great pictures.

Has anyone ever noticed how when you brush your Ragdoll, that you can literally take the hair that has been removed, roll it in your hands until it becomes like a piece of felt? I've never seen, outside of sheep or camel hair, such a strong felt.

Meet Taj

I had to restrain myself -- I posted 3 photos in the photos section, but here's more!! Some of them are hilarious.

http://www.23hq.com/hurtstotouchfire/taj

http://www.myspace.com/fuzzfuck (yeah I know, I'm such a pathetic pet owner I made him a profile. I don't have one there, myself.)

Taj is a paperless ragdoll. Do most of your ragdolls have papers? His parents do, but the owners weren't licensed breeders so Taj is unofficial. I wonder if there's anything that can be done about it now? I don't care much.

He's a very strange cat. He's fixated on cardboard boxes, earplugs, and this one plastic bag I got recently. And he's very, well, ragdolly. He's like a throw rug sometimes. He's very vocal, so I can pick him up and drape him over some other surface, and he'll talk to me about it, but he doesn't struggle. I mean, he does get pissed off and then he struggles, but it's rare. He's very vocal in general though. He stands at the door and wails at the neighbor cats. It's this weird croaky yodel noise. I've never had a boy cat before, so I've always just assumed he was trumpeting his manhood.

I'll probably post again later (even though this seems like a pretty quiet tribe) because I'm really interested to know how much of Taj's eccentricity is Taj and how much is the breed. But it's late right now. This is my post-finals internet binge. So Taj and I are going to go to bed now.

Ragdoll cats are very special, large, loving and laid-back...well, my 8-month old "Rosie" can bounce through the house like any circus cat...but, loving she is! She is a blue-mitted pet Ragdoll with a seal-brown nose inherited from her mother. True to the Ragdoll nature, Rosie will flop on you, knows everyone's routine and is there on schedule and she'll even play games of tag and fetch with you.
I know there are others who have Ragdolls to love or want one...I hope this tribe can grow with friends to share...>^^<...

I got him when he was a kitten from the pound. They had just put all the other cats to sleep so decided to adopt him before they could put him to sleep. When I got him he was this scrawny thin little thing. I had no idea at the time that he was a ragdoll, I had never even heard of them before that. He's about 7 1/2 now. I posted a picture of him.

It's actually been a dream of mine for a few years to get a Ragdoll cat, and I finally did this weekend. She is 3 months old, seal point, really sweet. I am kind of worried about her, she's been hiding under the bed. And I'm afraid my calico won't like her - they are going to be separate for a few days. But she is just the most beautiful creature, with such soulful blue eyes. I've been reading about Ragdolls for years, but never really experienced them in person. Her fur is a little like lambswool, so fluffy. She was purring and making biscuits while I petted her on the bed, and then she started making biscuits on my face, and she was so gentle she didn't even scratch me. I hope I can make her happy. I put her picture in the gallery, "Zadie".
