Re: I'm interested in the upcomming rainbow gathering in new zeland
Thu, October 22, 2009 - 2:09 AMThe main site is groups.yahoo.com/group/wor...wgathering At the moment scouting is happening. A scouts' meeting is about to be heard in a location in the Golden Bay. This is the first World Gathering in New Zealand. There is no cost as such for attending a Rainbow Gathering. There is an expectation that cash contributions are made to the "magic hat" for the buying of food items on a basis of what those attending can afford. As well the expectation is that those attending will volunteer their time for certain activities such as preparing the evening meal. If you are overseas at the moment it is useful to know that the NZ weather at the Summer equinox is very changeable so it would be advisable to bring wet weather gear and some warm clothing. On the other hand there will be hot days.Rainbow Gatherings in NZ are clothing optional in the Rainbow tradition so nudity can be expected at any time. We have had none of the problems faced by the American Rainbow Family. Local NZ gatherings are generally held on private land. The dates are as they were set in China. It is expected the gathering will last two months including the seed camp and the cleanup. Planning is for 1000. The main airport in NZ is that in Auckland. As NZ is a small country internal travel is easy. NZ's bio-security laws are very strict. There are a number of Rainbow friendly communities in NZ, including Wellington itself and an extensive wwoof network. Wwoof work is in exchange for food and accommodation. Gerald.
