Help!

I am trying to put together a presentation dedicated to the diversity of dance and I need photos. I am looking for photos of dancers....all styles(not just ME dance styles ALL dance), genders, heights, weights, ethnicities, and ages. I am looking for the variety of photos too...action shots, posed shot, group shots, solo shots, rehearsal shots, preparation shots....etc.

SATURDAY 10:00a WORKSHOP: "UNMATA au naturel"
This multi-level workshop will outline two tribal fusion combinations emphasizing technique and isolation. The first
combination will incorporate the building blocks of UNMATA's modern bellydance style. The second combination will focus primarily on the Hula Fusion nuance.Each movement will be outlined within a tribal cueing system so that it may be added to any troupe's choreography or tribal vocabulary. Amy will describe and drill each individual movement,then fasten them together into an accessible tribal combo that will be practiced in useful group and duet formations.
This workshop will be fun, fast, and furious. UNMATA believes in beat-your-butt technical practice, so bring water and come prepared to sweat.

Amy's Art of Overlay is at the heart of this intermediate toadvanced bellydance workshop aimed to add expressive layers and distinction to your dance style. Although controlled simultaneous movement is a complex idea, this class provides a simple approach certain to bring impressive results.Beginning with a thorough breakdown of basic isolation technique, Amy will expand such elements as core strength and relaxed tension, and then demonstrate helpful exercises that are necessary to develop an awareness needed to isolate key muscle groups. Then she will teach and drill an isolation combo that incorporates the artistic flare unique to Amy Sigil and UNMATA.

Because this class is designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer, a sufficient understanding of balance and timing is prerequisite.

I was in heaven this weekend!!! swoon......... sigh........

So - I'm going to sell a bunch of stuff so I can go to Egypt in November for the Nile group festival & to help Andrea dah-rling shop for her costume business (such sacrafices I make for my friends). I told Mahmoud I would hopefully be there in November and he said we should do some private classes!!! SCREAMIING!!! One on one w/ the master himself!!!

I'm also going to save up for next June's weeklong w/ Mahmoud & Farida. For that I need to submit a video & a resumé so I'm gonna work on a oriental piece for the audition that I can also hopefully use for our troupe. I'm hoping that a good oriental plus the Saidi will get me in the program since they only accept a few dancers. Do you guy's like the version of El Princessa on the 1st wash ya wash cd???

So kids - start working on your Reda combo's :o)

Fifi palpatations

Oh my - my heart is starting to race... Hands sweating - tummy churning - giggle fits already starting

Very few things faze me - I've been dancing most of my life & it was my main lively hood in NYC thoughout my 20's... I've been on big stages & danced in front of huge crowds...

So why do ask am I so nervous about dancing tonight for Fifi??? It just cause she & Sohair Zaki are my my idols in Eqyptian dance! I am totally guilty of putting her on a very high pedistal

For those of you who are going to the show tonight - if I start giggling please stop me otherwise I will giggle my way through the entire performance & possibly hit myself w/ the cane!

Oh God - Miss Fifi will find out what a goofball I really am...

So many events - So little $$$

Ok - so Audrena called me last week & wants me to work for her at the big fat Vegas belly dance spectacular in August. I really wanna go to this but I did want to go to ACN & Ya Halla & I was seriosly considering blowing off my friends daughters wedding in Egypt to go on the Folk tours trip to Turkey 'cause Nesrin Topkapi is teaching.

But I have 2 problems - lack of money & lack of time... I am going to start buying 1 mega ball ticket a week in long shot hope of beating the 999 ba-gillion to 1 odds of winning the thing (if I did win I'd take troupe mates & good friends w/ me :o)

I wanna go to everything...

DRUMMERS AND DANCERS please join us. PURE is a performance art group that spreads awareness for causes we believe in and brings our art form out into the world guerilla style. www.puredance.org http://PURE-Dance.tribe.net

We cross many dance forms and are affiliated with no particular studio....this is an amazing opportunity for us all to join in a unified dance and help our world/community.

Our first meeting of the year will be on March 1 at the Hurst Recreation Center from 8-9pm. All subsequent meetings will be held on the 1st Thursday of the month as well. Please bring $3 to cover room rental and administrative paperwork (making copies).

In July, we will perform in the annual anniversary of PURE's first procession in NYC. All PURE chapters across the world perform on the same day to celebrate the anniversary. We will also be dancing at Kismet this year.

This group is democratic. Brandy and I are your facilitators, but we are here to help you and the group flourish. It's everyone's group and all ideas and input are welcome. At this meeting, we will

- Get your information
- Tell you about PURE
- Set date, time, and place for anniversary processional.
- Set date, time, and place for Kismet.
- Pick charities, events, or causes to spread awareness
- DANCE and DRUM!

If you have someone who doesn't wish to perform but would like to help, we also have assistant positions. These wonderful people join us at our procession and help us in many ways.

I am so going to this workshop!!!
It's super cheap too (2 years ago it was $27 bucks for all 3 days). The big expense will be flying up which if you book early is about $114 out of love field. Otherwise it's a 9 hour Drive and that stinks... the folks at the STL folk dance association have in the past help people to find cheap or free accomdations
I will be staying w/ friends & I can bring 1 guest (Nancy - are you joining me???)

NTMEDA needs your help planning the dancing at our annual Holiday Event! We are looking for suggestions of NTMEDA members (or people who would be interested in becoming members) to dance at our annual holiday event in December!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Back To You Event at the Lakewood theater was a great success! Magadelena and I had a great time (especially when she kicked her suitcase down a flight of stairs) and it was wonderful to have a huge stage to dance on!

Look for an article and a photo on us in the Lakewood People (I think it's Lakewood People) sometime soon!

Brambilla's Schedule

Come out and support your local restaurants featuring belly dance! Brambilla's in Lewisville at the NEC of Hebron Parkway and I-35 (in the Target shopping center) features belly dancers every Saturday night at 7:00 and 8:30 pm.

Currently there are two options if you wanted to take from any of the lovely three ladies of Raks Halim.

First:
Yoga Inc at the Casa Linda Plaza Shopping Center (Buckner and Garland Road)
Classes are every Sunday from 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Instructor rotates (currently it is Magadelena)

Second:
Lifetime Fitness
Corner of Trinity Mills and Marsh
Classes start August 22nd
Hours are 7:30 - 8:30 pm and run in 6 week sessions.
