This board, *like all the rest of the internet*, gets trawled by spambots, that read email addresses and add them to spam lists.

While it may not be important with regard to this particular email address, as it turns out, it's a general principal that you can be as generous as you like with your own personal details, but don't post anyone else's on an open messageboard like this. For some people it's a matter of personal security (various people have had problems with stalkers), for some it's a matter of not opening them up to being added to yet another set of spam lists. It's just a matter of using the internet responsibly and considerately.
