I've been looking for something along the lines of lyrical shoes, but can't find anything that is not suede or leather.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Fri, May 18, 2007 - 4:59 AMUnfortunately there just aren't any man made products that are as sturdy and inexpensive as suede and leather. But, you might try zappos.com. They are not cheap but have great customer service and free shipping on returns. Ask their customer service for recommendations.

The best shoes are (wo)man-made leather. Just go barefoot!

Re: Animal Friendly Dance Shoes?
Tue, June 12, 2007 - 1:27 PMThank you both for the input, Helen and Chris.
Unfortunately, I've been dancing barefoot and there are times that it feels like I'm leaving a little bit of my foot behind on the floor as I spin or make any quick movement. No fun.
I've been searching around and asking in other places, and someone directed me to a place called dance paws. So far I am very happy with them.
The site, if anyone is interested, is: www.dancepaws.com
I've found that many dance shops in my area carry them ...makes me wonder why I'd not heard of them sooner!

Re: Animal Friendly Dance Shoes?
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 8:31 PMI'm going to be in an outdoor performance this spring, and I've been searching for dance shoes that would be suitable, but are not made of suede or leather. Can anyone recommend something?

Re: Animal Friendly Dance Shoes?
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 6:56 PMI got a pair of these:
www.vegitalianstyle.it/collection.asp
They are like the hermes sandals that most dancers wear, but made by a lovely vegan company. They are VERY expensive though partially because they ship from Italy, but I am very happy with them. They are really comfortable and well made.
I have tried asking some vegan companies in the US to carry them but so far no such luck because they are such an expensive specialty product, but maybe if enough of us ask...
Anyways, I recommend these! -
