Re: Aisha Ali workshop?
Thu, June 7, 2007 - 12:39 PMI was considering going to her Berkeley workshop on Tuesday if my week was not too crazy, but just saw that it has been postponed until the fall. :(

Alas, I can't be in San Jose this weekend. Here, we'll give a little plug: www.halanda.com/AishaAli.html
I have taken one workshop with her, and it was not great. BUT it was too overcrowded and in a pretty inappropriate venue, so I have long wanted to take from her again in a studio. I saw her dance and lecture at the International Conference back in...2001? And damn I admire her early work and travels and dance documentation! Plus the layout of this workshop coming p looks very organized.
You should go! It's better to regret something ya have done then something you haven't...right? -

Thu, June 7, 2007 - 9:16 PMAhh, Mahea! I took Hula there. She's an amazing lady, she just has this presence around her.
Anyhoo,
Yeah I know I'll feel totally guilty for not going buuuut....I have been swamped with finals. I'll have a final on monday and tuesday, plus a huge paper due (that i should be doing right now) and sunday happens to be my b-day. all i really want to do is eat cake.
see, i'm even too tired to use the shift key to make capital letters.
capital letters, bah..let them eat cake!

Thu, June 14, 2007 - 1:13 PMI can relate to school having to come first.
Happy belated birthday! Hope you are celebrating well in Hawaii... Guava cake, perhaps!
Side note: I picked up a copy of Ms. Ali's Tunisian video/Raqs Shaabi video. I *love* it and recommend it highly!
