So we three Raqs Habibi lay-dees took a little time off from our trio, each hanging out in our own corners of the world before 2008 shows up to the party.
Shakira Om Mia is doing gigs in Portland in one of the sweetest hagglah dresses in the west. Bought from Little Egypt, I think it has paid itself back, yes?
Jasmine is our working gal--Fridays at Tanjia and a regular sub at El Mansour, and definitely doing the circuit. We only live 25 or 30 miles from one another, but that bridge and that tunnel can be so daunting, eh girl? :)
I actually had a decent performance year (wedding season was kind this year), and am also teaching a lot--added a new beginner class, have some amazing private students. Hosting my annual winter student showcase/holiday partay December 6. I'll dance, some of my students will dance, and I have two pro guest dancers, Naiya and Salena. It will be fun! If you are in SF that night come on down to the studio for food, wine, and dance. Keepin' it low key and upbeat.
I also will need to move from my long time rent controlled bubble early next year. Expect cries of frustration, tears of rage, and some begging for help in my blog. :) I'll start here--if anyone knows of any sweet one or two bedrooms in SF for my partner and I that will be available in the next couple of months, let me know. We make good neighbors (and we make good food, so you can come over and eat with us anytime). And yeah, we are considering Oakland. SF is not so friendly for belly dancers and musicians anymore. But we hold out hope!
*So*---> 2008, Raqs Habibi...we have a few things up our sleeve, but are also looking on the horizon. What are you all planning for '08? What are the events not to miss? As a geographically challenged trio we have to travel to be together no matter what we do, so are open to branching out for shows.
Talk to me!

Re: The latest stuff
Mon, November 26, 2007 - 11:41 AMSounds like you all are doing great!! Congrats.
For me 2008 will be Wiggles of the West, of course, in Reno in July. As one of the Two Old Bags, I can hardly miss that one. LOL I have also been made the Director of Vending for the Las Vegas Belly Dance Intensive. Woo Hoo!! It is going to be a fabulous event and will be held in September at the Palace Station. I hope to see you guys at one of these.
Smooches.
