    Don't believe "in it." Believe in the "possibility of it."

        I believe my brother and I were warriors in ancient battles in Japan.

        also, they were showing a trailer for the movie Pearl Harbor. Just seconds into the trailer I started cryiing. My son asked me what was wrong. I told him this is a new movie about Pearl Harbor. I had not heard they were making a new movie and I never saw the trailer before. And sure enough, it was.... Freaked my son out. So, I have some strange connection with Pearl Harbor also.

          lady..I've had dreams of fighting with swords myself...dressed as a samurai...many many times.

          I actually had a few dreams where I was getting instructions on how to use the sword correctly...told to keep my wrist fluid and never too stiff...to go with the flow of the sword..make it one with my arm. I also painted with watercolors then..to keep my hands fluid...I was trained to see without physical eyes,,.,,to sense the movement around me...anticipate a sword before it landed...I also recall the humid air...in the mountains..the scents of particular flowers..granted these are all based on drams...but I often wonder...I don't watch or read about things related to that period...but I am constantly dreaming of that timeframe.

          Also dream of france a lot...hear myself speaking and understanding french...

          I guess most of my recollection is from dreams...of course I constantly question how valid they are..

            I have nineteen that I *rememeber* about but I am not 100% sure - are we ever that sure of anything - that they are past reincarnations.
            Lots of priestly incarnations and soldiers life. My rare lives as female find me as an inquisition executed Scottish witch-healer and a Venitian madam. And maybe the odd Egyptian priestess and sacred whore dancing with silvery ornaments.

            Sorry, no soldier in the Orient but in England. Maybe that would explain why I picked up English that easilly. It feels more natural than French. I used to impale Frenchmen.
            A former boyfriend had a very definite scar on his body and remembered being killed as a soldier by an Englishman. At the time, I did not believe in this and rationaly explained it away.
            Later, I had a dream where I remembered killing him. We had broken off by then.
            I favored bayonnet and knifes and that includes the curved knifes used in the Arab world.

            Oh, one little tight-ass New-World explorer Frenchman, a real frog. He used all the minor nobility money fro is family and squandered everything and never came back. He bedded his lot of Indian women and maybe I am meeting my descendants on the streets.

            The sea however, was beautiful.

            I do not go to movies. I just watch the replays.

    I go back and forth on the idea, depending on my theory of consciousness at the time. Some psychic reader told me I was a pharaoh in a past life. I've also been told by more than one reader that I was a Native American. I'm rather agnostic on the whole matter.

      I'm the sam way JOn...

      To be honest I don't really belief when psychics tell me...

      I tend to go with dreams that are unrelated to my current reality...and I tend to explore that more. I trust my dreams since many of the things I've dreamt about have occurred...I figure there might be some truth to my dreaming as well when it comes to pass lives..

        Why don't past life readers ever tell people that they were just ordinary peasants or even really mean corrupt people that lived horrible lives? Everyone is a pharoh, or a queen, or a warrior, or whatever else sounds glamorous. I thinks I smell someone blowing smoke up your ass.

        I don't believe in reincarnation beyond the cellular recycling that we do when we decay, but I don't fully disbelieve in it either. One life at a time is plenty for me but I"d love to come back as a pampered house cat.

          I'm sure that such lives just wouldn't be worth mentioning. If we've lived thousands of lives, there's bound to be some that stick out more than others. BTW, one reader told me about a past life where I was a slave.

            JOn...I think ordinary lives are very much like our ordinary days...they become one big blur if there is nothing unique to make them stand out...the reason we remember certain events over others is simply because they are often outstanding compared to regular days...

            for warriors...if you did it often it became very normal...just like farmers and peasants...there were so many of us who were peasants, warriors or farmers....being royalty or rich has always been a rather small group...we actually have more wealthy people now then we ever did in history

    I definitly believe in it, especially after hearing the story of The Dalai Lama and a little story of my own.
    My mom died in 94 and a few months afterwards my nephew Mavarick was born. At a family get-together in 98, we were all watching the Seahawks get creamed and the neph outsteched his arms and said, "boy, its good to be a man again". From that point on I knew that my mother's spirit was now my nephew.
    As for me, I have no idea. Plus I haven't really given it much thought. My concern is on the here and now, nothing else.

      I don't know. It's certainly an interesting concept. Sometimes I have feelings or thoughts about things that happened that I carry forward, but I also think that could just be feelings and sensations I have. Compulsions.

      If I did have a past life, I suspect I was not wealthy, I lived in a poor village, and I rode horses in a war environment.

      But beyond that, who knows.

    Sun, May 11, 2008 - 2:11 PM
    I didn't even consider the possibility until I started to notice the people who just seemed to appear in my life ~ most of my 'good friends' are people who I've been through much, over years, with ~ but, then, I started to notice that some people ~ for no known 'reason' in this life ~ just appeared & my life & immediately existed in my 'inner circle', firmly staying there right from the start

    my relationships with these few people, seemed to just 'pick up where we left off' ~ only, I had never met them before ~ in this life ~ it's like looking at most of a connect-the-dots picture ~ the 'negative space' is obvious & leaves a distinctive pattern, in absentia

    technically speaking, tho, I don't really 'believe in past-lives and/or reincarnation' ~ I just use those terms to communicate with other people about a shared phenomena ~ really, I think that I am a multi-dimensional being, living all my past, present & future lives, at the 'same time' ~ here in the NOW ~ my ego is just doing its job of keeping the story-line that I call "MaryEllen Marshall" together, operating in a 'time frame' that allows for maximum interaction with everyone around me

    sometimes, it is possible to shift my ego consciousness around a bit & I can get *glimpses* of the other 'parts' of me that I don't 'normally' have access to ~ additional information that is useful to me *resonates* with the known whole ~ much like a harmonic

    I have been able to put a few parallel story lines together:

    I was the 'Mother Superior' figure in an old European convent ~ I was VERY devout & humorless ~ I accomplished much good with my life, but also scarred bunches of young women with my buzzkill attitude ~ the life I am living now is crafted, in many ways, to show me that praise of God is nothing, if not *joyful*

    I lived the 'ugly duckling' story on the American frontier ~ tall, red-haired & gangly as a child, I was teased & outcast by the very same women who later wanted my beauty advice when I grew into a stunning woman ~ but I could never trust them & consciously and/or unconsciously turned to cosmetics tinged with more than a little 'black magic'

    I was a male academic-type, again in Europe ~ 'prolly studied astrology & Latin ~ but I have fewer details on this life ~ other than some subjects that I have formally studied, seem more like 'remembering' than learning ~ a process I am quite familiar with....

    there are others, but with less detail

    love all-ways,
    mem

    I am somewhat agnostic about it. I would be unhappy with the idea that the whole concept could be used to 'explain' any political ineqaulities for example, or being born with any learning difficulties.

    I was once told I was a nun in a past life, with doubts about my vocation. Well, it might explain why the whole area of religion and spirituality can be so fraught for me, too much angst brought over from an earlier incarnation.

    Someone then told me I had been a female healer in Victorian times, but had turned vindictive when I had been prosecuted for it.

    When very small I had a fascination with numbers and letters of the alphabet, which I knew most other children did not share. Was that due to chanting in vain over rosaries or misusing a grimoire in a past life?

    Well, there could be other explanations, I think: genes, collective memorey, basic similarities in a brain that is hard-wired to be magical in some ways. Sometimes I think we need to remember a litle more that the human race with its genes is much older than we are - we are just mayfly on the surface of that, albeit maybe with an imperative to take what is bequeathed us in terms of this genetic, or karmic, or whatever mix, a little further along the road. Or maybe not. As said, what I don't care to do do is look for guilt trips in these areas, or find it as a means to invailidate certain areas of experience -

        I had spontaneous memories of another Lifetime ..
        it was scary .....I thought I was dieing ....
        I do not wish to go to much in details suffice to say I was ill for 3 days ..
        my body wanted to let all out and nothing in ... and so it happen
        I had to go see someone who could help ...my emotions were heavily mixed

        at that time I was in the Netherlands : they have very specialized people on this matters over there
        they bring you in a trance (no hypnoses ) to help bridge former experiences
        into this now time ..for integration
        I do not expect anyone to believe me
        I am pleased to have found some answers ..
        and I have a whole documentations of things that were impossible for me to know
        about the culture (in my previous Life ) and Rituals traditions ext.
        when I went to search further for my own peace of mind .. it all matched .. !!!
        please spare me your comment I am answering the main post here
        Thank you !

          I know quite a few people who had past life sessions, most of them were famous people in their past life????

          I don't believe or disbelieve, but there is a large part of what goes on in this body that has the possibility of being made of stuff that is not perishable, such as consciousness, so who knows.Anythings possible, life on the planet is so nuts anyway, with birds, animals humans wandering around with feet ,eyes, smell, vision, thoughts etc, its all so wonderfully unbelievable, but its all happening.

          I often wonder where l was a couple of hundred years ago though.

            ~~~~~~~~~~
            also, there is a whole "level" of archetypal energy that people can tend to identify with, especially before more detail is able to come into clear focus ~ more like a "soul group" than an individual & great historical figures tend to be representatives of these archetypal energies (that is why history remembers them)
            so early identification with some great historical figure, or another, is just another way of saying that one *resonates* with that archetype ~ important information along the path to greater self awareness ~ but in no way the 'end of the line'
              I've never had a reading for them or any input from others about them, though a friend took me to one big event on these, she was really into it -- but like others are saying, I felt embarrassed for the people who were being told they were queens and kings and pharoahs, etc.--and without fail, they all were told of these glamorous and powerful lives. It was a big negative recommendation for me. Still, over time there would be these sudden very powerful and intense moments of "remembering"--just out of nowhere, or triggered by something, and in one really intense moment triggered by picking up an old beer mug from the '30s -- and so I've had little moments, just enough to convey the feeling of them and maybe one important incident, from several lives now. And I feel so experienced because of this! However, before any of this ever happened and years before I ever heard of reincarnation, and when I was like 4 years old and had never even heard of the holocaust, I very specifically remembered, the first time I saw iron grillwork on a bridge (which absolutely terrified me and I proceeded to have many nightmares about it), the life immediately before this one did end in a concentration camp and I recall, not the death itself, but going in with the others to the place where it was going to be done and not knowing exactly what was going to happen but knowing, without any doubt, this was it for me and it was not going to be pleasant. That death IMO was really traumatic, made me resistant to being here again. Affected my childhood in this life, as I came back too soon and didn't feel recovered at all.
              Also a memory of death at a young age in childbirth when I was a young, nice, happy village woman in Mexico or thereabouts. Also a very complex memory of being involved in the Spanish Civil War (and it turned out that people and places in that actually existed, and later in a foreign movie I saw the actual area of Spain that I lived in then and actually cried out in the theatre). Same thing when I saw a particular African tribe by the Nile in a PBS special, I knew instantly who they were and where they were, was able to confirm this, as they live pretty much the same today as then, about late 1800s, and recalled more about that life, as a man, than any other, it was one of my favorites and was a good and easy one--the women did all the work, lol! All I had to do was lounge around with my buds and joke and have a good time.
              Mem..beautifully expressed.
              Its definitely easier to recall figures that mark certain trends, then average citizens that live and died anonymously.
              Frankly for myself I like to recall lives only if they help restore some talents or explain some areas I might be stuck in. For me personally recalling for the sake of it doesn't motivate me, but for solving a problem I find it useful
              For instance I did past life regession exercise (btw I do know how to regress,done a few times myself - not very hard) tracing the reasons money doesn't motivate me...and it was useful to tap into a pass life for that sort of information.
              If I recall something I usually try to tap into that energy for resolving or completely a cycle...
              One thing I have not done is look for a past life with a lover...funny that doesn't motivate me. like searching for soulmate..nah
    When I was four, I told my mother that I did not treat my children the way she treated hers. She said I was adamant about this. My grandmother wanted to explore this more with me but my mother didn't. Not sure if Gram ever asked me any questions regarding this but it is interesting to know I did this. So, if this is the case then I guess I had children. ;)
      I've done a couple of regressions Amy...I did a few myself and I had "d" do one for me also at starwood. At starwood, we uncovered a warrior life...which was consistent with my own work
      I might acutally do a workshop - did a proposal for a few to see which ones would get selected...
      I find the stuff interesting, but more on a level of self-development rather then anything else. I feel if I'm going to dig in the past I want to do it with a purpose beyond just plain old curosity. I'm not so interested in who I was, as much as what challenges or traits I had that might influence or assist this particular life. Like reviving old talents that I can use in this life...
    Have had tow past life readings. First one, after $$ changed hands, and short conversations back and forth, began with, "You have a very old soul." Ended abruptly as I said, "Like Old King Cole?" She replied, "You are not seriously interested!" and walked right out the front door.
    Second time, with no $$ involved, same beginning, but he rejoined with, "No, you were never a King; but you have been Merry." Over the next four hours or so, we downed a fine bottle of Chardonnay, and ate all the cheese in the house.
    Earliest life identified was as a minor player in the "Aten" revolution in Egypt; about 3,300yrs ago.
    Later was a like a squad leader in raiding parties during the Dark Ages, a bloodthirsty, looting bastard.
    Wonder when I'll find out who I am now? (groan)
    i tend to believe that the "spiritual" world is really no different than the physical world. so your "soul" would do exactly what your physical body does when you die... break down and combine with multiple elements. i think that everyone has been everyone... or at least a piece of them has been a piece of everyone else. when people remember "past lives" i think that the memories are maybe just the ones that happen to be important for them in this life. i have a hard time believing that "souls" remain intact through the death/birth process. it's more like a return to the collective unconscious where pieces of that collective unconscious (which were pieces of many souls) recombine to form a new life. just my theory.
            Exio I really like your theory - I guess it kind of corresponds with a personal theory I have about reincarnation in our closed system -- people will often ask the question, how if reincarnation is true, do you explain the problem of there being so many more people now than there used to be? I've always thought that because of the closed system, the originating souls have each split, many many times, and inhabit many many bodies (the whole group of which may be quite similar to each other even if not near each other--or maybe a few members of the group will carry a larger or more forceful part of the soul than the rest) -- and this in fact explains the apparent dilution of "soul force" -- apparent to me, anyway -- while there were legendary humans in the past of extraordinary presence, through time most people seem to have become much less "present", less affecting of others, etc. -- few of us would ever feel ourselves to be the stuff of legend now. But I think we do sense, in a wistful way, that people farther back in history were tougher, stronger, more clever, more determined . . . things that might be personality-related, or might, IMO, be soul-related. We tend to blame civilization for this softening and blanding-down, but that might not be the primary cause.
            I think there are people on Earth right now who feel no connection whatever with any individual soul manifesting through them--and indeed there may be only a very faint connection with a soul energy. I suppose there has to be something, even if only very faint.
            I love to think about all this -- though it's not my priority anymore.
                i'm clueless, but reincarnation does make sense to me, regardless of the details one might need to grapple over.
                in the inca culture, they'd bury their dead in the fetal position & bury them in the sides of the mountains (would have to out flesh-eating bugs inside the cavity to "digest" the innards so the body would fold in two- kinda gross, sorry)
                they believed that we leave this life as we entered it, since it is only a birth into another existence. or, to modernize it, like john lennon said, *death is like moving from one car into another*
                in seeing the similarities btwn. birth & death (oh, th
