We were discussing leadership in general, and how a good leader is able to take almost any situation turn it around to his or her advantage. I asked him how he was able to do that so well and he told me that the best decisions come from the heart. He's retired now (another decision he made from the heart, rather than continue to move up the ranks, which is what his superiors all wanted), but his words have stuck with me.
