Re: marvel comics...
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 5:16 PMET (entertainment tonight) had a quick sneak preview...
Eva Mendez was someone Nicholas Cage was pushing for,.....but seriously if they want to make the movie more then just another pretty skinny chick they need a real body...not some thin girl trying to look tough, but a real tough female being really tough and not a wannabe. CHyna can lift a man of 300 lbs over her shoulder and throw him for REAL!
I am so tired of hollywood casting tiny females who look pretty but are fragile thin women playing superheros...its not realistic.

Re: marvel comics... Spiderman changes, Dark Horse...
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 2:01 PMWonder Woman -- funny... I recall that they offered Sandra Bullock the part for a Wonder Woman movie several years back.. nothing ever came of it from what I've seen.... grrrrrrrrrr [insert drool here]
My bro has been collecting comics since we were kids... I mean *serious* collecting. Marvel specifically, with a particular love for Spiderman. If he doesn't have every issue, in duplicate sometimes, I'd be surprised.
Until recently.
Apparently, the producers of the Amazing Spiderman decided to in essence "undo" the past 19 years of comic book history by saying that Peter Parker/Spiderman's (shhh.... don't tell anyone they're the same person) life wasn't real, because it was the "clone's life", not the *real* parker/spiderman. So now he's no longer married.. a single man playing the field.
I guess it turned the fans into an uproar, and even the writer admitted that he didn't like the direction but was bound by the producers' decisions.
So among many others, my brother no longer is a Spiderman fan after over 30 years. As a matter of fact, he's no longer so interested in comic book collecting. They effectively killed this fan of theirs. And probably many others.
My friend did lettering for Dark Horse comics too.... and has his own "Graphic Novel" underway.. I can't say much about it, except that he is *extremely funny* -

Re: marvel comics...
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 3:51 AMI was into the teeny bopper Archie and Veronica. However, as an adult I bought a box of seventies comics because there were Star Trek and Star Wars comics in it and there were a few jungle ones, Tarzan family and there was a Thor. I pulled them all out again last week so that I could look at the art work for ideas for a few panels that I was drawing up for a class.
I also have two Rocky Horror Picture Show comic books that are in excellent condition.
The format appeals to the screen writer / story boarder in me that I have not explored much so far.
