what defines humor for you?

Humor = Things that make me laugh or smile. Sometimes they are things that make me feel outrageously happy or charmed, sometimes sweet and innocent, sometimes embarrassed or awkward that I find it funny, sometimes horribly dark and unkind, but if it makes me laugh out loud, or smile, I find it humorous. No question.

I don't spend much time analyzing or judging myself for my reactions to things. If it makes me laugh, I will usually go along, unless it's something I really find offensive and choose to avoid, later, because it simply isn't what I want in my head or my life.

I am not always sure why I laugh at certain things either...I think laughter comes sometimes from a very primitive natural state...I don't analyze things unless it hits a nerve that makes me upset...

you know I also look at it this way...if sometime upsets me...I try to look at why it upsets me, rather then look at the comedian and blaming them for having poor taste.

I find there are times certain buttons get triggered...so I try to explore that before totally getting upset at the comedian for commenting on the obvious..

I have no definition for humor, but I know it when I laugh at it.

I've always been a bit partial towards the S's of humor: sarcasm, sardonic, satire, silly.

i don't much care for jokes. what strike me as humorous are the situations that occur in real life; that's what makes me chuckle quietly to myself. Much of what is presented as humor doesn't strike me as funny, especially nowadays when all humor is either pornographic or insulting to some group or another. (i don't mind a little scatological or sexual humor, but it only works when it can shock or jolt you a little, and it can't do that when it is so overwhelmingly prevalent). last time I can remember laughing aloud was listening to a Chinese government official describing the problems in tibet; that should give you some idea of what my sense of humor is like.
I also always found the riffing on MST3K uproariously funny. I laughed til i choked at some of those.

      MST3K? I'm drawing a blank.

I find lots of things hysterical, especially the kind of sly remarks you might hear on Daily Show/Colbert, and for some reason I like pratfalls and spectacular accidents (like when somebody falls off the stage during a show, taking half the cast and scenery with them). Once I laughed at my cat when she did something adorably stupid; she got offended and would hardly speak to me for months.

see... I don't find falling or slap slick funny...though when I was a kid I'll admit I liked Jerry Lewis and the 3 stoogies. Now I don't care for their humor. I do laugh at things that make fun of our weakness...especially because many of us take ourselves way too seriously. I think I laugh cause it reminds me of the fact I shouldn't take myself serious.

There are a lot of jokes about therapist, ministers, witches, puerto rican and women...some I find funny and some I don't. Granted they are all making fun of my path in some way...but I can't take it personal. I often tend to see myself as way too serious sometimes and humor reminds me of the fact everything is temporary...and labels are just that labels.

One of the many generalized hispanic jokes I hear a lot..."puerto ricans all carry knives"...I know its not true for the most part...but I find it funny to hear that..and then I think of my grandma who had a machette and almost used it on an old man who tried to molest a child,, go figure!!

Some jokes doe have a lining of truth...maybe that's why I laugh

Mystery Science Theater 3000. It involved a guy and his two robots watching bad movies and riffing on it with their own dialogue while the movie dialogue proceeded. It doesn't sound as funny as it actually is (for some).

when someone goes out on a limb to impress others and the limb breaks.
That kind of irony is the funniest thing. when someone does something really stupid to look cool.
