Re: body paint for rebirth?
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 5:47 PMA few of my friends and I may be interested in chipping in as a fun activity for one of the days. We could set up a little workshop for others to participate in. Could be a silly fun time.
What's body paint run these days? I'm only versed in Elvis Jumpsuits.

Re: body paint for rebirth?
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 10:52 PMI would aim for at least 30 or 40 people getting painted per day....
-
-
Re: body paint for rebirth?
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 7:14 PMI suggest the "event" happen one day for a length of time. Then we could get more of a turnout at once and a bit of peer pressure. It will take some resources to volunteer time to organize as well as keeping areas cleaned up as best as possible. People painting people painting people painting people.
Saturday at noon until exhausted resources??
I'm with Patrick though on overall numbers....think we should look at about 100 peeps at least. -
-
Re: body paint for rebirth?
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 9:20 PMnoon ish on saturday sounds great.
do you think we should register as an event/ workshop? i only have the paperwork for the art grant so far....
I still need to figure out how much money a bunch of paint is going to cost. also i was thinking of painting a sign announcing "body paint"
hhhhmmmm what all to you think we are going to need.??? -

Re: body paint for rebirth?
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 11:08 AMI can bring a folding table to prop all our supplies and a little "pop-up" 10x10 tent.
We'll have some camping chairs that we can bring over for the while as well.
We should get a bullhorn / megaphone...the Shire isn't that massive....anyone have a lead on this or where we can get one locally? I'm wanting to buy one anyways and could use any leads.
Other things we should consider....brushes, buckets, water / cleaning supplies??

Re: body paint for rebirth?
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 11:20 PMI'd fill in the ideal amount of peeps (100 or so). I think the cost was about 13 bucks a gallon for latex online...I have no clue how many to get, but we'll need mini rollers, brushes and some cleaning equipment too.
Anything would help the cause. -
-

use your resources
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 9:46 PMsince body painting is pretty popular thing on the playa - what about posting out there on the burning man tribe to see exactly how much paint is needed - also figure out exactly what you are going to do
- airbrushing? really groovy - works awesome with stencils - see if someone has an airbrush they can donate for the use and talk to people on tribe that have done this and see how much paint you will need
- latex? whole other ball of wax (ha) that has a massive clean up issue - and where does all that go when it comes off, plus its really pricey - and do you want to educate as well as paint? it might be more a hassle than its worth
- crayons - cool, but limited...but combined with paint might be neat
- regular paint - talk to people on the burning man tribe that have done this before, let their experience guide you instead of poking blind in the night on what you might or might not need
also - a fun thing to do if you really are jonesing for the body decor without the big mess - non-toxic highlighters on skin glow under the blacklight and disappear in the daytime - a great way to decorate without over committing
- just some thoughts, instead of guessing around! -
-
Re: use your resources
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 12:16 AMOOOhhh.....Blacklight Highlighters are an awesome idea...I've seen some cool stuff on the playa and agree we should look into this.
-
Re: use your resources
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 1:10 AM...I'm thinking it'd be possable to use an airless sprayer to spray a chalk mixture, which'd be easy to clean up... any which way, ask for as much as you possably may need... shoot high. -
-
Re: use your resources
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 4:08 AM... & spraying uses less paint in general -
-
Re: use your resources
