Ed Abbey said he'd never gotten around to visiting LA, but he figured, the way things were going, that sooner or later it would come to visit him.

I'm coming to LA! Just briefly, because I am rock climbing in Joshua Tree over New Years (desert stars!), and it costs too much to fly into Palm Springs. I will be around for the evenings of December 26 and January 9. Anything I should do or see? Anyone got a couch to crash on, or a favorite hostel/campground to recommend?
