DON'T MISS THIS SHOW ! ! ! !

Friends Dave Berutich and Brandon Alder are going to showcase some of their original paintings all night long.

Orange County Dana Point’s JAH MEX (and his backing band The Translators)

While many people are concerned about the food they put into their stomach, Jah Mex invites people to watch the food they put into their mind. He is a self taught musician who writes every song from the foundation of the keyboards. Using a steady flow of conscious lyrics and soulful reggae rhythms, Jah Mex reaches listeners both spiritually and musically.

Earlier in his music career Jah Mex played keyboards on tour for international reggae star, Eek A Mouse, in 2003. Traveling to Europe, Puerto Rico, and throughout the U.S inspired Jah Mex to journey with his own music and message.

In 2006 he launched online reggae radio station,
www.shockout.com which has become internationally known as a place to hear the latest conscious reggae artists.

In the summer of 2007 Jah Mex wrote and produced an E.P called Mind Food. Songs from Mind Food including "Jah Pick Me Up" and "Conscious Revolution" have aired on reggae radio stations in the U.S and in Europe.

Jah Mex is currently working on his full length album which will be released in 2009. The album is being produced by Jamaican reggae legend Fully Fullwood www.fullyfullwood.com who is one of the MOST recorded bass players in the history of reggae. A sample of the approaching album has been released on an E.P called the Pre Mex. The E.P features new singles “Why”, with Fullwood playing bass, and “Lamb’s Bread”.

Jah Mex is supported on stage by a group of top ranking reggae musicians known as the Translators. Together Jah Mex and the Translators have been both the supporting and headlining act at major concert venues including Vault 350 in Long Beach, Malibu Inn in Malibu, OC Tavern in Orange County and Mozambique in Laguna Beach.

The name, Jah Mex, comes from a dream to have a restaurant that blends Mexican and Jamaican food called "Jah Mex". As a Chicano born and raised in Southern California, Jah Mex discovered reggae music through the surf culture in his home town, Dana Point. Influenced by his Grandfather who played gospel music on the piano by ear, Jah Mex also learned to play the keyboards by ear. Immediately after he grasped the basic fundamentals of chords and scales, he began to write words and music at the age of 18.

Jah Mex has also played keyboards with international and local reggae artists including Junior Reid, Mighty Diamonds, The Melodians, Tippa Irie, Abijah, Four 20 Band, Fresh Roots, Boomshaka, Upstream, Lesterfari & Kings Music, Lions Den, Smoothie Jones, Local Culture, Chapter 11, Skarcha, Higher Lion, World Anthem, Rebel Rockers, and Crucial.
