"God in the Box" is a new Film documentary (that will be released in the spring 2010) that goes across America asking ordinary people two questions:

1. What does God mean to you?

2. What does God look like to you?

Zeitgeist part 1 source, Acharya S/Murdock is featured in the film. Here's a video clip of "Acharya S" at 2:05 through 2:45:

This is really interesting stuff Rocky. As I have discussed this issue I come to learn more and more about people in general. While I do not believe in a God entity, I do wish to see people being good for goodness' sake and not for some eternal reward.

Yes indeed, this film gives folks the freedom to give their own personal answers to the two questions. And when they try a very interesting thing occurs ... they overwhelmingly answer number 2 with some sort of natural phenomena i.e. the sun, moon, stars etc. Which means that when given the chance to share their own views they tend to disagree with mainstream religion and lean towards a view shared in the Zeitgeist movie explaining how religion has evolved based on natural phenomena. So, I totally welcome this new film. I wish it were coming out much sooner but oh well.

Those who discuss or draw Jesus (or book religion here) do so no because of any first-hand eyewitness experience but because it's what has been taught to them.

I see no reason to believe in god. I don't see how can one draw god or express what god means to them if no credible evidence exists and no real valid definition of god exists - it is nothing more than faith & euphoria to me. Well, the good thing about "The God in the Box" film is that it doesn't ask those questions and I'm okay with that because when folks attempt to answer the two seemingly easy questions it's amazing how quickly they realize that they can't answer them easily without being about a vague as possible about it. And, THAT is what catches them by surprise at the end of the day.

I feel strongly that this film has potential to open peoples minds and challenge the religious mainstream status-quo.

When I am feeling most Zen-like, I tell my friends that the value of the God Box (as a logical category) lies in the fact that it is empty. I sometimes remind them that the highest conceptualization of God in Jewish Mysticism is known as "Ain", which means literally "nothing" or "not". The parts of the Tree of Life that are beyond and above the Tree itself are called the "Three Veils of Negaitive Existence" and are called respectively, "Ain (nothing), "Ain Soph" (No Limit) and "Ain Soph Aur" (Limitless Light). They also teach that the highest image of God one can have is to meditate on what you can see at the back of your head, i.e. nothing at all.

Pretty Zen-like, those ancient rabbis, nu?
