Primarily a question for the foot soldiers rather than the directors.

  • Honestly, the issue for me & most I know, is more "what kind of prep are you willing to make time in your schedule for?"

I'd love to attend every rehearsal and every meetings and read lots of books and spend all day on tribe... uh... yeah... but every time I decide to do any of those things, I have to choose it over spending time with my husband and daughter. Not an easy choice and it leaves me limited time to devote to this particular brand of fun.

I learn a lot from the St George monthly meetings, and it's the only time I have available to practice my dancing. If it were less fun, less informative, I wouldn't make time for it. It's also structured so singing and dancing are at either end of the day so members who do not do those things don't have to sit around and wait for those who do.

So, in a very roundabout way, I'd request guild masters to make sure the time spent is truly fun and productive for the most members. If meeting after meeting is spent rehashing info, no one will come.
  • for pryanksters: stagecraft, projection, audience interaction, interaction with other guilds, Playing nice with the nobles, history... We used to do them but interest has fallen and folks who ran them don't find it worth it when the same three to five people are the only ones taking them.

St George: What to do as household, Period women's hobbies (like actually teaching them) a physical characterization lab similar to the one taught at Dickens workshops... a costuming/fitting workshop
