Just found this site this morning: www.naergilien.info/movies/E...index.htm
She has very nicely taken stills from the film Elizabeth R, and has them separated by individual dresses that Glenda Jackson wears.

Tue, June 23, 2009 - 1:16 PMNote that Dudley in that series is played by a long-time longbow archer, author of _Longbow: A Social and Military History_. Note also that the scene in question is lovingly accurate in its archery details. -

A passionate longbow archer (he had his portrait painted holding one), Hardy has also produced more than one longbow history documentary for the BBC (which I'd love to see, but never have). He was one of the people allowed to handle the Mary Rose longbows when they were dredged up, and the current edition of _Longbow_ includes detailed dimensions and grain density of the bows in question, providing us with the most reliable estimates of the draw weight of military longbows from the Henrician period (80 lb. to 140 lb., as I recall). His book is a definite requirement for anyone interested in English (and other) archery, and in the several elements of British history woven around the longbow's string.
Next time you watch "Elizabeth R", watch Leicester's shooting form. It's a pleasure to observe.

That's it! The Mary Sidney dress I've been trying to get a good shot of for, what, almost 30 years! I SO want that dress. Even with a severely limited number of days in the year to wear it any more, I may have to do something about this. Not that it will look like that on me, but still...
