Hello!
Thank you for rolling ahead with this Robin !~
In addition to the goals outlined in the tribe summary, I would like to propose that this future organization also serve as an institution (LLC of sorts) not only providing emergency funds for fellow local burners, but also as to provide seed money for future events and projects that have the goal of supporting similar goals.
Thus, hypothetically-speaking, the 2008 October-event currently under planning, for example, could be a recipient of seed money to meet its upfront costs, in that it is an event for and by the local burner community, would charge as minimal admission price to return the loan, and in that the funds raised beyond costs would be going either in part (with the rest of the funds going to a local charity, or community local or playa project) or in full back into the Reno Burner Foundation.

Yes, yes, yes, I think this would be a very good idea. Support comes in many different ways.

Re: Goals
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 5:33 PMYes, although over the past 4-5 months, there has been a little discussion here and there, the idea was looking forward to creating a 501(c)3 LLC.
Stay tuned for meetings, there really haven't been any yet, real busy for many folks right now, while we can continue to talk here until then... -

Re: Goals
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 2:46 PMStay tuned, folks....
Some of us are real busy at the moment, while some of the ideas are still rather novel and developing...big project ahead, this one is...
Having said that, if you look to the summary of this tribe, you should be able to get a rough idea of "mission" if you would like to call it that...
Of course, although a few folks have been discussing this over several months to have reached to point we are now at, like most local projects, this is a community one, so, there is no bar to the discussion of what is in the summary and this thread, nor is there any bar to additional ideas....

Re: Goals
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 2:52 PMAnd, I suppose we best also get into the idea, one groovy or another, of this foundation also serving as a way of providing seed money to both local and playa-based art projects. Of course, the goals (one = supporting folks more than art, another = supporting art more than folks) sort of diverge here, but, it seems the way... -
