Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 6:51 AMThanks to your enthusiastic participation... IT'S ON!
April 12th, location TBA. Produced by... ALL OF US!
Let's talk themes. Last year it was "Yuri's Night: RenoCompression... IN SPACE!"
What say you for 2008, dear family? "Yuri's Alien Abduction"? "Failed Missions Exposed"? Let's brainstorm!
Short skits and stage acts will be more prevalent this time, including a space-themed game show with Kernul Killbuck as host Dink Winkler.
Female Tang wrestling. Winners join the "700 Mile High Club" with all the Space Food Sticks they can eat.
d6 and Munz are again tackling the spectacular lighting and effects with new inventions and surprises that will let YOU take control!
U-Me: The Unfortunate Monkey Experience is a crash landed space capsule with a robot monkey inside. Help him back into space... please!
Music: Space Trance for dancing and Space Chill for the Observation Deck spun by DJ talent both local and from far away galaxies.
Enough costumes mini-theme camps, and blinky to give you a true playa flashback!
Don't through away that moldy roll of Swedish snow camo, this year the walls will be whiter than the brightest star.
Let's start the conversation now. What is YOUR vision?
We can't wait for the Reno Decompose event on October 20th. We'll bring some teaser hand bills if you would kindly spread the meme... IN SPACE! -

Sat, October 13, 2007 - 11:32 AMYuri and Barbarella meet Rodan
>>>
Barbarella: Why would anybody want to invent a weapon?
President: How should I know?
Barbarella: I mean, the universe has been pacified for centuries… sir.
President: What we know of it. The trouble is, we don't know anything about Tau Ceti or its inhabitants.
Barbarella: You mean they could still be living in a primitive state of neurotic irresponsibility?
President: Precisely. -

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 6:22 PM(with Reno particularly in mind)
Yuri's Night: Land of the Lost
I could really use this one, cause with all of the years of therapy, I still have not fully processed all the impacts that that show had on my childhood psyche... -
-
Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 7:14 PMJust to play on the American Dream Theme
Yuri's Night: Cosmonauts vs. Astornauts
or
Yuri's Night: Cosmonaughties vs Astronaughties for the ladies. -

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 7:24 PMJelly, does the "love salute" involve a pelvic thrust? cuz that really drives me insaaaaane!

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 9:33 PMcory and i have been in a "land of the lost" netflix mode, listening to the commentaries........
i absolutely <heart> this idea:
Yuris Night 2008:::Crash:Lands of the Lost
Sexy Sleestacks!
a crystal maze!
an inflatable life raft!
robot dinosaurs!
monkey-men!
and:
jellis' automated pelvic thrusting unit treehouse!
oh man, cmon! i'm practically begging here.......
d6,
damm you sid and marty kroft! -
-
Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 11:27 PMI like Crash:Lands of the Lost

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 10:10 PMSpace Mutiny= perfect minds blown!

-
Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Fri, October 26, 2007 - 8:30 AMWhatever ends up the theme, we simply MUST have a Land of the Lost skit on stage!
Singing:
"Marshall, Will, and Holly,
on a routine expedition..."
Cue life raft falling over giant waterfall
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
How about a tribute to Sid and Marty Kroft!
Sigmond the Sea Monster Anyone? Er, maybe it's good that I shave those gray hairs now.
Does the idea of Space Mutiny open it up for pirate costumes, theme camps and interaction? I like how incongruous the sub-theme could get, i.e.:
* Scowling cosmonauts with eye patches.
* Scallywags moving in slow motion zero-G
* "Sink that space ship and take her Tang!"
* The obligatory foam sword battle at midnight
What if we set it up as a conflict from the start? Then bill it like the old Godzilla vs. Rodan movies:
Yuri's Night: Cosmonauts vs. Pirates... IN SPACE!
The interaction would be multiplied as people would not just walk by each other and embrace or chat, but would scowl and mock threaten and such. Your thoughts? -

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Fri, October 26, 2007 - 6:34 PMFWIW, I would prefer "incongruity" rather than conflict -- good term, Jelly ! -- generally, I personally don't get all groovy with a "versus" as part of the theme.
I for one could really get into sidestages of godzilla v. rodan movies, sort of like passing through a maze like BRC, movies on the wall of the two going at it, leveling buildings, leaping through the air, japanese dubbed over with english, amid lots of stuff going on, but as an "overall" theme, I feel enthusiasm can get a lot more cohesive and further, and the interactivity a whole lot more messy with potentials, with the mystery, the comedies of ...incongruity.

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Mon, October 29, 2007 - 9:21 PMOK! Thanks to your input, d6 and I have nailed it down so here it is:
"Yuri's Night: Theme Mutiny!"
Everybody gets a chance to stick it to the American Dream theme and fight, play, sleep with the enemy, dress like space pirates or whatever, spy on each other, interrogate, and a zero gravity foam sword battle at midnight!
Who's first to walk the plank... IN SPACE!? ARRGGGGGH! -
-
Re: Yuri's Night 2008?

-
Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 9:58 AMi'd like to throw in some Mst3k Gamera films as well...........Gdzll v Rdn is super awesome, as is Mothra.....and the Land of the Lost announcement sounds pretty good to me.....will report back w/ space (as in venue) info asap - (later this week).
The most pressing needs:
indoor capacity 700+(also to meet theme-size requirements-domes,tunnels,fabrics in adddition to "humans")
outdoors: the same monster-sized metal works, artcars and fire as compose.
time allot for set-up-event-teardown
cost
security
insurance (if applicable)
its a short list and a few phone calls away.........
anyone care to do a space remix of my old pirate band Scurvy Bastards, i'll send ya' a cd - (its all on itunes as well fer samples)

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 2:21 PMI vote our original Yuri's Night location....with a contract this time to make sure all is cool. It's the only space that will have that capacity...
Unless we did the Valley Skate Park....which is an option. There have been some raves there recently.

tribes.tribe.net/reno-yuri
There, the venue will at last be revealed (and so will somebody's undergarments). -

Re: Yuri's Night 2008?
Thu, November 29, 2007 - 9:27 PMNo, I'm not going to join another tribe dedicated to a party I'll never go to.
But I will ask, what kind of parrot do Space Pirates have? -
