THINK FEBRUARY 17th.........
Wed, December 5, 2007 - 6:29 PMLooks like February 17th may be our best date....anyone have any issues with that date before I run with it?????? Ann and Baxter have that whole weekend open so we could show them a good time while they're here....spin jam anyone????? I know it will be chilly-willy but hey, that's the beauty of our obsessions.....
While I have your attention, be sure to check out :

Re: THINK FEBRUARY 17th.........
Wed, December 5, 2007 - 8:29 PMOooops-I'm sorry--but we don't have the 17th open, only the 16th. We could hoopshop it up that day but would have to skedaddle that night or early Sunday morn--however the weekend before (Feb 8th &9th) we have the whole weekend FREE and could do a Sat or Sun workshop, plus participate in a jam! Not that we couldn't do that all in one day, but after a Hoop Path workshop folks might want to *chill* on hooping for the day.
Here is the link to our Hoop Path retreat, which will take place the last weekend in June:

Come on DOWN to Carrboro NC and hoop with us!!! -

Re: THINK FEBRUARY 17th.........
Mon, December 10, 2007 - 6:29 PMThat's still being worked out. I need to get a good idea of how many participants we will have to determine how large of a space we need. More info to follow.....so glad you're interested.
OH.....but it's going to be Feb. 9th....please forgive me for the date changes. Again, all the final arragements will be posted as soon as I have everything in stone. -

Re: THINK FEBRUARY 17th.........
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 5:18 PMGot the date on my calendar! Haven't hooped much lately due to the chill and lack of indoor space. I was just wondering about the location b/c my husband is from Chesterfield and he knows a lot of places in Richmond. -

Tue, December 11, 2007 - 6:51 PMAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! Richmond doesn't need 2 hoop tribes. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
WHY TWO HOOP TRIBES??????
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 5:05 AMI'm glad you bring that up....I think Richmond does need two hoop tribes.
Here's the reason Joe and I decided to keep the tribes both active and separate....
Joes has spent the past two years working with Citizens Against Crime, the Boys and Girls Club and others to provide community awareness by using the hoop to bring people together. The primary focus of Richmond Hoopers will always be around charitable and volunteer efforts. RVA Hoop Lovers and the MeetUp group I started, will hopefully feed more ideas and volunteers into Richmond Hoopers.
RVA HOop LOvers is more focused on the individual Hooper. The Hooper that wants to improve hoop skills, needs help from other experienced hoopers, wants to meet up and share flight time, etc.... We might even take a road trip from time to time to meet up with other hoop groups...RVA HOop LOves is more for the performer. It's new and it's open for all sorts of creative ideas for advancing hoop skills.
The separation is clear to me today....but who's to say it might not change tomorrow. At this time, my goal is to build a community of hoopers that just want to be involved in "something"..... the overlap is good, but the separation is necessary for now.
Hope that clears things up for anyone that's been wondering about WHY.....
I'll try to do a better job of making things more clear going forward.
Thanks for bringing this up, Danny. -

HELPPPPP ME HOOPERS!!!!
Thu, January 3, 2008 - 4:58 PMOK, Hoop Lovers....I'm running into some issues with a workshop location and I'm getting slightly discouraged. I was REALLY hoping that my local Y was going to work with me, but I'm getting any contact back from them since the holidays. It's not out completely, but I need some ideas from you guys, just in case it falls through. Does anyone out there have any ideas about a space that could accommodate approximately 10-15 hoopers? Think large space and if there were mirrors that would be a major PLUS. I would obviously prefer to have a space for FREE...so that puts a little twist to the request. Gallery 5 has opened up to me but I feel the downstairs space is too narrow and of course, iNCUBATE is a possibility but I feel like we might freeze our little hooper butts off there and the ceilings are limited......help me out! Does anyone have a membership to a hall that might accommodate us for Feb. 9th from 2pm - 5pm?
