Another Good Scorpio Rising Description.

This one almost bought me to tears:

"There is much in the experience of those born with Scorpio rising that involves learning to transform the self and others through the experience of conflict, challenge and letting go. The themes often present with this sign on the Ascendant can be described by the mythic story of Hercules as he battled the much-feared Hydra. The 8th labour of Hercules involved the destruction of this beast, a creature of the depths that had ten heads, and a deadly bite. Every time Hercules cut one of the heads off, another would appear. The lesson Hercules had to learn was contained within the advice given to him by his teacher- ‘We rise by kneeling, we conquer by surrendering, and we gain by giving up’. This experience could be described as the quintessential lesson of Scorpio rising.

You are likely to experience life as a constant series of challenges or crises where you learn intimately about the nature of power and transformation. Once learnt, you have the potential to be a very transformative and catalytic person, as you easily assist others to move through whatever is holding them back. A confrontation with that which is dark, hidden, destructive and taboo in your own nature is often the case with this sign rising. Along the way, you will often meet the same qualities in others. These may be either met in the external world through challenging and difficult situations, or within the self, in the form of negative, toxic and obsessive emotional states that plague the psyche. These states might include repetitive episodes of greed, envy, jealousy, desire (usually for power of come sort) and lust. These qualities need to be transformed by being acknowledged, accepted and brought into the light. Jealousy is commonly an issue, especially in the early part of life. This destructive emotion may alienate you from others, generating tension and friction that need to be released. This kind of emotion serves to pull the personality down, requiring humility and compassion to heal. Like the Hydra, such emotions can only be conquered through submission, which means aligning the self to something greater than the individual desire nature. If not released, these states seethe and fester within the psyche, exploding from time to time with powerful and destructive force. Internal pressure periodically builds until an explosion, release and renewal occurs. These qualities can be transformed and redirected via a creative outlet. A work of art, a form of therapy, a mystical state or an intense sexual experience can serve as the means to refine these energies. This process will be either consciously or unconsciously played out. You may find yourself oscillating between passive or active responses to your emotions and external stimuli. You may go through many catalytic personal experiences as you discover more about your true nature. Often, situations of disability and impairment come about, so that the fear of helplessness and restriction is experienced. These challenges become the catalyst for experiencing surrender, and learning to open up to trusting others.

Often, those with Scorpio rising give very little away as to what they are really thinking and feeling. Others cannot be sure of what your true intentions are. You may play your cards very close to your chest, owing to your acute sensitivity to environmental influences. For you, letting others know how sensitive and vulnerable you really are means giving them a kind of power you are not sure you want to give. You are often extremely sensitive to the underlying emotional currents around you, for this sign is extremely perceptive. You will continually seek to confront the underlying psychological motives in any situation. You will also be constantly aware of others potential to be deceptive, abusive and less than truthful. Your first form of attack then is defence, while you wait for others to reveal who they truly are. This means that you are likely to respond in passionate and turbulent ways to most forms of relationship, and will be especially volatile when an issue of power and its potential misuse is around. Or you will avoid intimacy with anybody if it means you have to let your guard down. You benefit from calm, placid and strong partners who are able to withstand the intensity of your emotional experiences, and your need to work them out on others. For this reason, you can be hard to get close to, as the external emotional protection is very strong, and others feel uncertain as to where you stand. Yet once you have committed your feelings to someone, you are intensely loyal, passionate, giving and devoted. It is an all or nothing kind of stance. Much depends on how prepared you are to deal with the issue of power and its proper uses.

Once the necessary transformations have come about, you then become a powerful catalyst or agent for change in other people. You have the ability to renew and rebuild your life, and can show others how to do the same. You are likely to have penetrating insight and great understanding for others suffering and pain. You are likely to be patient, persevering and reliable, so that you are a great source of strength in times of need. Your likes and dislikes are strongly felt, and there may be a tendency to employ shock tactics in order to make your point. Usually, this is not to be perverse, but rather to say the things that others will not say, or to shake up the status quo. Highly developed emotional intelligence often makes you privy to the secrets and dark sides of others. Being prepared to encounter the secrets of others is part of your life experience.

Those with Scorpio rising often have very good memories and will not forget a hurt. You may need to develop the capacity to release pent up emotion directed consciously or unconsciously against those you believe have done you wrong. You are likely to be very loyal to loved ones, but will switch off completely if betrayed. In this instance, there will be no looking back once this decision is made, for you tend to be characterized by an all or nothing attitude that is at its most direct where your emotional vulnerabilities are concerned. Yours is an intense rising sign, with the potential to experience great rewards. You have come to learn the secrets of resurrection and rebirth through experiencing transformation in your own emotional life. Then you have the power to become an incredible agent for change in the lives of other people."

Scasco I dont understand something about this"We rise by kneeling, we conquer by surrendering, and we gain by giving up ". How could one win by giving up ? Its beyond my modest understanding of things and life. In my life until these days everything I did and succeded was through sheer determination , resilience (never ever giving up) and hope. But you know what, i think that in the end all these come from faith.
I hope some day i'll understand the real meaning of this journey.
Something that realy amazed me was Gandhi's way and his words keep coming into my mind. People fight with weapons , God with Love.
            True.

"We rise by kneeling, we conquer by surrendering, and we gain by giving up ".

I suppose this applies to... when we are still "bad".... ?
You know, being controlling, dogmatic Svengalis, taking offense at imaginary slights and projecting our issues at other people, and then stinging them for it...

I wish the author didn't just snip that teensy weensy line from somewhere else. We readers could give it various interpretations, which might not actually be what the original writer intended as his work's message.

No, sorry. That line was a clip from Hercules, right.

Kneeling - get down in the depths (of the - where does the Hydra live?)

Surrender - i've seen articles that advise everyone who's undergoing Pluto transits or have difficult natal Plutonian/Scorpionic placements to "accept it, and be with it"....

Give Up - "bring it up to the light" (acknowledge it) and it will melt away

                ~

In my opinion this is more about psychology than material success

I understood it to mean facing ones inner demons, 'airing out' issues and changing what can/should be changed and letting go of what can't, while taking responsibility for it.Owning it.I read a shorter, less detailed, simular discription in Liz Greene's Astrology for Lover's book, discussing the myth of hydra, how the one inmmortal head related to issues scorpio types have to often repeated face within themselves/through fate/other people. That repressing it only makes it stronger and more destructive.Letting go of pride and learning to submit, bow down to an higher power, not be ruled by ego. Thanks for posting it Scasco.

Here is another pretty good one: pretty short, and to the point (from myastrologybook.com):

"Scorpio rising symbolizes that you're self-controlled, stoical, reserved in expression and silent in your defense. You have great strength, depth, and the determination to overcome all adversaries. Willful and self-reliant, you need to overcome lingering resentment and jealousy. Some say this is the strongest and most difficult ascendant of all: the "razor-edged path" only taken by those who have been given the strength and power to do so. Devil or angel, with Scorpio Rising the personality and the spirit do battle unto death. And it is the personality that must evolve through death and rebirth.

You're magnetic and very aware of the sexual energy in your environment, and have the ability to drastically alter your surroundings as well. You appear to others as intense, passionate, secretive, penetrating and sensitive. You know how to get to the heart of things, and gravitate to positions of power and control. There is a great reserve and hidden power with Scorpio Rising that is felt and respected by others. It's not easy to know you, for you're a deep individual and silent even in suffering. You're courageous, persistent, and cool-headed in a crisis. The heavier the burden, the more you'll quietly see your task through to the end.

As you're intuitive and psychic, there's all the more reason for you to protect others from the accuracy of your sarcasm. You have healing power if used appropriately. The house your Pluto is in shows experiences necessary in developing self-awareness and your expression as an individual. Pluto's sign and aspects indicate your ease or difficulty in doing this. Heavy afflictions to Pluto can indicate viciousness, as you're very perceptive of others' weaknesses."

There was also someone who posted some seriously insightful stuff on this tribe about Scorpio rising and it's effects; but he unsubbed as he got flamed by a few people. Whatever his 'motivations' - his insights were staggeringly accurate (for me, anyway). I'll come back at a later time, and post the link to the specific person and thread I'm thinking of.

Wow! I can't believe I've actually *never* stumbled across this one. And I've been to wiki many, many times. Yeah, that's an excellent one. It certainly points out much of the flaws that many of us might not even want to admit.

I hear you ghost girl. You have to wade through quite a few mundane descriptions to get to the few really good ones.

Here's the link to that old thread, which featured a guy who called himself 'Phoenix' - pretty insightful guy - his first post was on Jan 21, 2008, at 12:01 pm. The rest of his posts you can figure out as you read.
            tribes.tribe.net/risingsco...6ccced00bf

In the meantime, here's one other pretty good, somewhat esoteric description. This was one of the first ones I ever came across when I discovered rising signs and stuff.

            SCORPIO rising
People with Scorpio rising tend to be secretive, deep, withdrawn,
mysterious, regenerate or degenerate, reserved, hard to understand,
courageous, willful, persistent, stubborn in thought, creative, self-
reliant, self-controlled (except perhaps with the passions), and
silent. According to the spiritual astrologer Isabel Hickey, no
unevolved soul is born with Scorpio rising. This is a powerhouse
rising sign. It represents the battleground where the higher and
lower selves must come to mortal combat. They must be aligned and the
lower self eventually must die and give way to and obey the higher
self, the God within. Physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
            levels are all involved.

You appear calm on the surface, but you can be extremely emotional inside.
"Still waters run deep", as they say. You tend to be the silent type, always wanting to know others'
motivations, but never disclosing your own. You love to play the
detective or the ferret. You have to know everything, all the how's
and why's. You have great determination and strength, enough to
overcome any adversary, even yourself. You need to overcome
resentment, possessiveness and jealousy. There may be a fascination,
preoccupation, interest and/or ability with the occult, death, sex or
healing. You can be a devil or an angel, the eagle or the stinging
scorpion. Spiritual lesson to learn: Forgiveness. Mars and Pluto
rule Scorpio so Mars and Pluto will be important in your chart.

You know, Scasco, i really love this description. Being a second decan scorpio rising myself, i know how hard it is to walk away. I have this whole "if pushed, push back harder" attitude torwards life and people, and in a lot of ways, i'm ruled by my pride more than anything else. The quote "We rise by kneeling" i totally understand, and i know this is true in my heart, but my pride always gets in the way. But hey, i'm only 17, maybe i'll change! But i have to say one more thing about rising signs. A lot of people on other sites feel that the rising really doesn't mean anything, and that it's stupid to get caught up in it. But for people like me, that not only has a scorpio rising, but a pluto in scorpio as well located in the first house (i guess that makes me a scorpio ascendant with a pluto rising), we take a lot from our rising sign. In some ways, i feel closer to my rising sign of scorpio than my sun sign of libra (technically on the cusp). I think that people born with this rising are very complex people, in some ways even more complex that your average scorpio sun.

I too identify much more with my Scorpio Rising than my Libra Sun (which is really a Libra/Scorpio Cusp). I think this is also reinforced by my Venus (Libra ruler) being conjunct my Pluto. I can see some Libra traits in myself (I intensely dislike any injustice or unfairness, I think through everything and I love beautiful things), but my Scorpio traits are so overpowering that I really can't identify with being a "Libra" at all.

                  True that.

                  Communication is key.
Don't paint other people's faces with the color of your own feelings.
Best to be clear about everything from the start - you, and everyone you're dealing with. Otherwise, just walk away.

It's not easy but I am learning to open up.
                  It is liberating, but scary.
I picture it in my head, telling everyone how really messed up I am inside...
I think that right after that I'll be hiding under the sheets for days.

Wanted to get a some insight on wat this could mean or wat it means for some of you all. It comes from the site www.0800-horoscope.com

        House XII in Libra

Marriage doesn't bring luck, honors come as he imagined they might.

Wat the hell does it mean? All I know is im pretty sure it has something to do with jupiter(luck) ruling on my 2nd house(venus) with venus ruling 7th.

Does anyone have any insight on wat it means for them having scorpio rising.

Geez, sorry we upset you by not answering.

My reason for not answering is: I don't know what to say about that because I've never been married... And as for "honors"... Geez, isn't that line applicable to anyone who imagines honors, and then works to get them?

okay I will answer this question: "Does anyone have any insight on wat it means for them having scorpio rising."

My insight on that "prediction" is....... it sounds so amateur!

Wait, what exactly did you mean by this: "Does anyone have any insight on wat it means for them having scorpio rising."

Did you mean, "What do you Scorpio risers think of what the website said about 12H Libra?"
If so, my answer above remains unchanged.

If you mean, "What does having Scorpio Rising mean to you?"
I believe the answers are all over this tribe, if the thread isn't revealing enough for you.

i think he revealed right there in his attack message what it can be like to have a scorpio rising, especially for a young male. Interested where your mars is Keith? I know what its like to have seething anger just below the surface, erupting at the slightest imagined hurt or negelct (I have Mars In Aries with Scorpio Ascendant). As I have learnt, try not to take things so personally, remain hidden in the face of the squall in your heart, and just observe. Thats the best advice I can give to a Scorpio Ascendant uniniciated. (Im trying to cool down my anger by joining a football *or "soccer" * team to release pent up energy.

i feel like this is one of the key point that stood out to me

"Like the Hydra, such emotions can only be conquered through submission, which means aligning the self to something greater than the individual desire nature. If not released, these states seethe and fester within the psyche, exploding from time to time with powerful and destructive force. Internal pressure periodically builds until an explosion, release and renewal occurs. These qualities can be transformed and redirected via a creative outlet. A work of art, a form of therapy, a mystical state or an intense sexual experience can serve as the means to refine these energies."

so true! ill always build up and itll all just pour out when im playin drums or somethin. i had one point in my life that was full of transformation and i ended up painting this 5 foot by 5 foot abstract painting completely mirroring how my mind works (energy directed from unconscious to conscious and externalized as creativity and imagination in the outside world etccc)
