We've all got Scorpio rising, but many of us might have a few planets in the 1st house (which is supposed to alter it to some extent).
Thought it would be interesting to find out what planets (if any) you have in that house, and how you think its changed your Scorpionic ways. If any of you have any interesting interpretations of each planet there, then please do post it so we can all benefit from it.
I've personally got two very different (and contradicting) planets in the 1st house.
One's Uranus (with its unique, different, and eccentric qualities), and the other one's Saturn (restrictive, cautious, serious), and they're both conjunct each other. And to this day, i find it kinda difficult to point out how its affected me. I definitely feel Uranus qualities (most people see me as being different and usual, hopefully in a good way).
Now, I used to be a shy and reserved person as a kid (thanks to the Saturn), but am just the opposite now a days, outgoing, bubbly and extroverted. If any one knows how these two very different planets work/fight with each other, then please do share it with me!

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 5:34 PMWe both have a Taurus Sun, Scorpio rising, and Capricorn Moon, Sarah.
Uranus / Saturn in the first house will tend to give you more of an Aquarian flavour, as they are the ruler and co-ruler of Aquarius.
You are a complex mixture of conformity and non-conformity. Lol
I have Neptune in the same degree of the Ascendant, and also Jupiter is in the latter part of Scorpio 1st H. They are the ruler and co-ruler of Pisces which tends to give me Scorpio - Pisces characteristics.
I have at least 7 major aspects to my Neptune Ascendant, so I won't spend pages deleneating it for you here, but it tends to heighten my spiritual reception and abilities.Sensitivites are acute. It is also the focal planet of a Kite formation, as well as one of the legs of a Mystic Rectangle, so alot of extra energies are focused on it.
I no longer have the Scorpionic need to get revenge, as I usually see it taken care of for me, if need be.
The Sun in Taurus is opposite Neptune and it receives aspects from the same planets as Neptune does, causing a real balance between the Scorpio and Taurus natures. Neptune sextile Saturn gives the ability to bring dreams and miracles into reality. Being on an angle strengthens it.
Jupiter in Scorpio receives a sextile to the Moon, which gives a very positive disposition and attitude, knowing everything will be alright in the end, everything will work together for good. Jupiter square Pluto aids alot in transformation and struggles with those who may wish spiritual authority over me. Jupiter gives more hope and optimism to my Scorpio Nature.

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Tue, June 3, 2008 - 11:39 PMHi Sarah, a very interesting post.
Hmm, quite a few there. Sun, Neptune and Venus in 1st house.
Sun
With the Sun's energy in the First House your personality drive will find expression mainly through personal issues related to self-image, physical appearance and personal interests. You are required to acquire knowledge of self in order to sustain a true sense of identity, purpose and destiny. Strong will-power and self-assurance add strength to your personality. Very brave, positive and competitive, you develop natural leadership qualities. Your enterprising nature, with a capability for seizing opportunities is another factor for success - obstacles are overcome by sheer physical courage. You are to become self-determined and self-sufficient, carving your own path in life. Your enthusiasm for life may manifest as robust health and vitality. There may be some tendency to pride and insolence at times.
Neptune
Neptune in the First House may indicate that your imaginative and spiritual potential manifests through innate psychic gifts and a sensitive, gentle and intuitive personality. Your visionary and idealistic trend of mind draws inspiration from dreams, contemplation, meditation and powerful emotions. At times you will experience weird feelings, thoughts and emotions - a mediumistic ability allows you to either consciously or unconsciously take on the conditions of your immediate surroundings and tune in to those with whom you come in contact. You are likely to be attracted to peculiar people, psychic centres and mysterious, strange places. You are artistic, very romantic and have a love for beauty in form, colour and sound. On occasion you can be weak, indolent, confused, impractical and dreamy.
Venus
With Venus in the First House the areas of life where you are most likely to express your social, romantic and artistic qualities are through your own self, by presenting an elegant, graceful, magnetic, happy, socially outgoing, attractive personality, with much joy for living. This placing of Venus indicates an impulsive, passionate in love, extrovert, bold and romantic nature. There is a need for constant variety in both your romantic and social lives. You make friends easily and are fond of love and admiration. Artistic self-expression is important, possibly
through music, clothing or writing.
So i think most of it is true especially the artistic self expression. I can really be in tune with my surroundings and communicate without speaking and leadership ( also a Mars in Scorpio ) comes quite naturally to me. Scorpio is very dominant in my chart.I do believe that other planets in the 1st do change the way you look. They act as masks for different situations, but which ever it is, its always intense...

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Wed, June 4, 2008 - 1:51 PMThis is what i found for you Mona,
Moon in the 1st
With the Moon in the First House your feeling, instinctive nature will find expression through personal interests related to self-awareness and a search for true social identity. A healthy self-image and socially presentable physical appearance are important to your emotional confidence. Your day-to-day response to circumstance is strongly conditioned by emotional factors - lack of direction, moodiness, over-sensitivity and changeability are the dangers.
Uranus in the 1st
With a First House Uranus you are likely to seek individual freedom of expression through an inherent need for constant change, new experience and adventure. Personal freedom of action is all-important to you. Unusual, eccentric, versatile, restless, intelligent and intuitive you have a stimulating affect on others, although, at times you may be regarded as odd, peculiar, eccentric and many years ahead of the times. You are likely to be attracted to such subjects as astrology, occultism, hypnotism, spiritualism, psychic research, New Age healing, telepathy, Free Masonry, inventions and electrical gadgetry. Many changes of residence and occupation are likely. Various strange and unexpected personal crises will promote life-experience and character growth.
Mercury in the 1st
Your mental and communicative abilities will largely be applied to personal issues relating to self-awareness and the search for an intellectual social identity. You have an inquiring, competitive and intellectual mental disposition, with above-average ability to express yourself orally and in writing. Many intellectual avenues will be explored through an innate drive for knowledge and new personal experiences that stimulate the growth of mind and personality. Your mental qualities are ideally suited to academic and scientific work.
It never stops to amaze me how complex astrology is and how many bits bring together to make one a unique person. But having a scorpio on the first house means it will be very dominating. A sign this powerful will crush all the weak influences. More than any other sign.

Wed, June 4, 2008 - 4:57 AMI have Uranus in 1st, too. Makes me a littlebit unreliable and afraid of responsibility, and eccentric, I think. And gives me a tendency to suddenly leave structures or friends behind, when I feel suffocated. -

Wed, June 4, 2008 - 5:33 AMGiggles.
I have Uranus conjuncting my ascendant.
Supposedly, I'm an oddity that gets a kick out of being an oddity.
Kind of hard to wrap my mind around an emotionally disconnected Scorp rising though. Doesn't mesh in my brain. -

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Wed, June 4, 2008 - 7:45 AMUr a genius Mona, hahaaa. Why didn't i think of that before? Those r the slower moving planets so they were probably in sco for 10-20 years, I was born in the late 80's (87 to be precise), so that explains it all. -

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Wed, June 4, 2008 - 1:34 PMMy AC is at 7* Scorpio, but I have two Sag planets in my first house (at 4-5*) - Jupiter conj Uranus.
Usually the first word that people say upon describing me is, "different"...
I think my Jupiter conj Uranus makes me so interested in education, not necessarily hte academic part but the you know... i have an intense desire to keep expanding, growing ,etc..... and i always find many different ways to learn... and areas to improve.
also i can't stand shackles. Jup/Ura is... restless.
JUPITER in FIRST HOUSE
With Jupiter in the First House you will find luck, ease of working and general good fortune coming through the power of your own self, thus enabling you to influence others with your cheerful, optimistic, jovial, dignified, self-confident and broad-minded personality. This placing gives ease of self-expression, executive ability, power and dignity that enables leading positions in social, educational and business circles. You should display good reasoning, a logical, broad mind, self-possession, confidence and determination. It indicates positions of high standing, such as bankers, judges, doctors, lawyers, professors, theologians and government officials. You have the ability to carve out your own place in society.
Jupiter in the Ascendant makes native scholarly, beautiful, jovial. The native profits most by improving himself and keeping his personality image as bright and faultless and open-minded as it ever possible. The native invariably appears successful and self-assured no matter what his actual material circumstances may be. He will be handsome and will have a high impressive intellect.
>>>>I understand that Jupiter near the 2nd house cusp is not same as Jupiter ON the AC.<<<<
URANUS in FIRST HOUSE
Uranus in your first house indicates that you have to be your own individual at all costs. If you're unwilling to cooperate or compromise with others, however, one of those costs will be your intimate relationships. Your self-will and need to have your own way is so strong that you may feel isolated from others until you let some of it go. You're often seized by sudden impulses, which neither you nor others understand, but which you feel you need to follow. In general, you and your life are full of surprises. Somewhat nervous and restless, you may find your way through a group or organization. You can be tactless unless there's a fair amount of water or a strong Neptune in your chart. Very intuitive, you tend to be eccentric, unconventional, and spontaneous in appearance and mannerisms. The spirit, not the form of things is significant to you, so you have your own standards of right and wrong.
When Uranus is in the first house, doing almost everything differently than everyone else has become the native's trademark. Such people are eccentric and initiate sudden and erratic departures from ordinary channels of behavior. Most people readily note this unusual aspect in his/her nature and treat him/her accordingly. These people's ideas concerning cohabitation should be decidedly modern and they have mostly good intentions. If he/she manages to give in to some situations without providing commentary, he/she should have no social problems.
Uranus in the first house alters the way an individual projects personal energies onto others. You are likely to seek, nay demand, freedom in the way you present yourself to the world. Dressing simply but quirkily, you will have no problems in asserting yourself. You are not shy in letting everyone know where you stand on issues. In fact you take pride in presenting your unique perspective. “I am a simple soul with few wants and needs,” is what you tell yourself. All you can feel is an altruistic desire to change the world! Friends and relatives probably find you a trifle erratic. They know you to be good-hearted and genuine about your feelings. Your passions rise fast and you lose interest at the same rate.
>>>> Both these planets trine my Sun, MC, and Mercury. -

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 6:31 AMNorth node and uranus conjunct my asc in scorpio in my 1st house. The descriptions of uranus in 1st are dead on for the most part.I seem to be more balanced out and less eratic,I wonder if that's due to my saturn conjunct my M.C. in a wide square to asc and uranus, north node? Certain trait describe me,that need to be me at all costs, the intiutive flashes out of the blue, excentric nature at times.Very moody and irritable, needing alot of peace and quiet, espeically music to relax.Yet I feel I'm more subdued on the appearance part, not necessarliy out to attract attention, but it least has to reflect a personal style and taste, fashion has never interested me.I simply like what I like and to hell with what anyone else thinks about it.As for the freedom part,I pretty much stay put and hate change, don't move around, need security and permanency.Yet cannot tolerate having my life or choices made for me,I have to be the one to choose, right or wrong.Nothing makes me madder than being pushed into something, ironically I take forever to make up my mind on what I do want, once I do I seldom change it.Just getting me to that point can be a battle.I'm trying to change that,it feels like being pulled in different directions and I hate uncertainty and gambles.Yet too many times in my life,I'd make impulsive choices out of the blue that have turned out for the best, but made a wreck of my life in the process.A necessary wreck that is.

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Fri, June 20, 2008 - 1:04 PMNeptune and Mercury. Both are right on the money and influence my Scorpio Rising.
Neptune is conjunct the AC, Mercury and Mars (in the 12th house in Libra) and sextile Venus (11th house Virgo), Saturn (3rd House, Cap, isn't that the truth!) and Pluto (10th house Virgo). I would say I have a heavy influence from Neptune and Mercury here. I'm pretty other worldly and a writer so there we go! However, don't flip the mother switch or you'll get the full wrath of the Scorpio. (My mother is a Scorpio so I refer to it as my mother switch.) -

Sun, June 22, 2008 - 12:44 AMwell, that's not difficult: in your natal chart (if you have one. otherwise, astro.com, for example, gives you one) you go ,starting with your ascendant, counterclockwise around the chart, you'll see some marks for the "houses", usually outside of the circle. the first one of them is your first house, the twelfth house will touch your rising sign again. -

Re: PLANETS IN OUR 1ST HOUSE
Sun, June 22, 2008 - 10:16 AMVenus in Scorpio
What You're Like...: You are intense and confident, a combination that makes you very attractive. When first meeting people, you're likely to be cautious, taking time to observe them in many situations. You pick up on emotional vibes, and know when someone is into you, and when they're not. You're able to bide your time and wait for the right moment to take a relationship further.
Quality and Element: Fixed and Water
In Love and Romance: You've got animal magnetism, and know when to turn it on to get attention. When dating, you'll probe the potential mate, but likely do a bait and switch when you're the subject of inquiry. Your focus is a scorpionic hold, powerful and hard to shake. The bond feels strong, and that can make it feel enduring and good for the long haul. You've got an intangible sexual power that comes from your intensity. Things go wrong when you use control and manipulation to hold a partner, to possess them. If you're not vigilant, your love life could become a dark tale of obsession, lusty addiction, and vengeance.
Friendship Style: You're someone that can read close friends like a book, and can sum up an aspect of their lives with startling insight. They think you're not paying attention, then you say something that reminds them that nothing slips by unobserved. You expect them to keep your secrets, and you'll definately keep theirs. The Venus in Scorpio can be telepathically attuned, and sometimes you just get a feeling to call. A strong hold on friends can become oppressive, if you're jealous of all their other connections.
Creative Expression: Whatever you do, you bring a powerful focus, drive and imagination. You can immerse yourself into a role, whether it's as an actor, a politician or a rock star.
The Big Attraction: You're just shimmering with some kind of intensity mojo. The game of seduction occurs subtley for you, with a steamy look or sensual touch. There's a hint of danger with you, which can be a turn on for many. You guard your privacy, which makes you seem like a tantalizing mystery to be investigated.
Winning Your Heart: To win your heart, there has to be some element of surrender on the part of your mate. You want to merge into an emotional union, and will shy from those that like to keep things light and casual. It's hard for you to forgive, so it's best to stick with someone that isn't going to play games or be untrue (easier said than done, of course). You've got to be with a strong person emotionally, someone that won't easily bend to your will. The sexual side of life is amped up for you, so your partner should also have a healthy libido. -
