Beltain.

Beltain this year falls on a Thur. Most folks will be doing their rituals on the week-in. My suggestion is that you do some form of Ritual on the given day. At some point during the day pause, hold sacred space and do ritual. You can do this solo, in small groups or large gatherings. This is a Fire and new beginnings Ritual. In the ancient days this was a day of sexual joining and fertility. Does not matter how you do your Ritual, what matters is that you do it.
Blessings

What the Hell is hit and run ritual theater anyway.

The basic idea here is to do public pagan ritual as street theater. These rituals are done on the actual day of the holy day. If the Equinox falls on a Tuesday and all the approved scheduled events are held on a sat or sun, something is wrong. If you were a Christian, you celebrate Christmas on Dec 25th, no matter what day of the week that happens to land on. You do not wait for the first available week-in.
These public rituals can be done solo, in small groups or large gatherings. Anyone can do this. Wear colorful cloths, bang drums, ring bells, sing and chant.
For along time we Pagans have hidden away or held closed rituals in private places. It's time to get out there and let the world know we exsist.
Blessings

Festival, Fantasy and Rituals.

“Festivity and fantasy are absolutely vital to human life”.
Harvey Cox

Festival, fantasy, rituals, prayer and magick have been practiced by Humans for millions of years. They are used to celebrate and focus magickal/spiritual energy, awareness, force and power. They mark the passage of seasons, cycles and events.
In his book “Feast of Fools”, Harvey Cox defines festivity as “the capacity for genuine revelry and joyous celebration”. He defines Fantasy as, “the faculty for envisioning radically alternative life situations”.
In much of today's modern world, festivity is limited and controlled, and fantasy is a commodity for sale. This has not always been the case. In ancient times Gods and Goddesses had their own festivals and days. These temple and sacred space rituals gave birth to Theater in all its various forms and styles.
In the medieval period of Europe, a Feast of Fools was held. Here the stable boy became King for a day and the choirboy an Archbishop. Everything was possible at the Feast of Fools.
Without fantasy and festival, life becomes boring and flat. The magick is lost, joy gone. Today with events like Burning Man and numerous music and ritual gathering all over the world, this spirit is rising again.
