Once upon a time, I spent a month in Boise. I went to a thrift shop downtown (wcaboise.org), bought a used bicycle, and spent all of my off hours pedaling around town. Boise has about 20 miles of biking & walking trails that thread through the city, mostly along the Boise River. They'll let you get around town but avoid traffic.

I also had the good fortune of getting to know a few locals who directed me to the Aladdin Egyptian Restaurant. Great Middle Eastern cuisine!
