Next winter, the plan is to organize the people of Palmillas, Sinaloa... to make their streets into Mosaics. Each family would make a mosaic in front of their house.
A mosaic teacher from NYC is already interested, and now I am seeking others. Painters too... to make murals.
Google Earth pics of Palmillas are in the photo album. We have a large house to stay in there... where we stayed last winter... Elfego's house.
I am planning to be based out of Palmillas all winter. I am not interested in running a free tour guide service for people who want to chill in Mexico... I will be starting an eco-tourism busy-ness to employee the people of Palmillas and Roblito, and will offer free spaces to serious and playful artists who want to serve and experience these communities.
We will also need people to make bike trails, camp grounds, gardens, bamboo towers, houses out of trash (mud and glass bottles), and hammocks.
Contact me if you are interested or want more info.
If you have work to show... please add links to this thread... it would be inspiring for everyone to see.
And please spread the word.

Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:37 AMI'd tend to disagree though. Diff. spaces & diff. Actions.
Maybe same 'crew', more or less.
Hmm. Anyways. Cheers.
It was just a suggestion, for I don't have all the 'facts',

Re: Mosaics in the streets of Palmillas
Thu, May 17, 2007 - 8:20 PMI hesitate to even reply since I wussed out on Roblito this year. I hope you understand the turmoil I was in...I'd hope I'm in a different emotional space next winter. That aside...
I'm so excited by this!! I love mosaic art and have a friend from OC, CA who lived in Mexico for awhile and did some mosaic while he was here. He is passionate about it and would like to get involved.
Since Palmillas seems a bit more accessible than Roblito, it also seems very enticing. And since it's less about chilling and more about doing, well all the better.
Anyway Corazon, keep us all posted and let us know how we can help.

Re: Mosaics in the streets of Palmillas
Sat, May 19, 2007 - 9:08 AMA tentative yes for me. The problem with living in the moment is your future plans keep changing. I will more likely see you, Cor, in NB this summer/fall. Who knows after that? If I'm home in L.A. and funds hold out I can do it.
