Argon is next to me here at a net cafe in Old Mazatlan. We are walking to Carnival in fancy pants... me in tight white bell bottoms... and him in red... looking our action hero best. I shaved my head today and it feels great.
The night we got here our car was broken into and many things were taken, including my hard drive with most of my photos and video from the past 8 months, but the cops returned that to me, by some miracle. They said the boy who took it left with the rest. I paid the cop 200 pesos and the guy who helped my contact the cops got 200. I am not sure if it was a scam with the police involved, but it is fishy. The cops said he would contact me if he found more.
The whole scene was sketchy. I asked three ladies standing near the car if they saw anything, and I could tell in their eyes they knew, but one insisted they knew nothing, and the others followed. Juan suggested that we all leave the scene rapidly, and we moved into the parking lots where thew ferry goes to Stone Island. Chris followed me into the barrio as back-up to asked questions are offer money to get our stuff back. It was scary. A gang of guys came out looking mean, but I played cool and straight, even though I knew it could get nasty. They listened, then said they would be back in one hour. Back in the parking lot, Juan was making deals with the parking attendant, who was playing with us like he was in on the scam. He said he saw my hard drive, and the police had it, so I was grateful for his help. The gang didn´t produce anything. Everyone has handled their losses well.... Jeremy lost a bunch of clothes and his video camera. Stella lost lots of music, Chris lost an ipod... they took my Camera storage cards, head lamp, camera cords, knife, chalk bags, on and on. .... it was a lot stuff. My video camera is also broken, so this is sad, as we are missing the opportunity to record this movie. If you want to support us in buying a new video camera, please do so through the action hero donation form on www.actionheronetwork.net
On the up side, we met an artist who has given us use of his house on Stone Island for future projects, and as a base for our circle. But is it is more than a house... it is a faerie world of waterfalls and caves.... like nothing we have ever seen. It will blow your mind. It made Carrie cry. We we arrived, Jimi, the owner said to us, ¨I have been waiting for you. This is your house." And it is now your house when you get here, whenever that is... maybe years from now. You´ll see when I post the pictures.
It would also be nice to have support for the many hours I spend uploading pictures at net cafes. It costs me money to keep you all updated, plus I need to buy new SD storage cards for my camera. We are also rewiring Viki and Gabe's house this week, and will need funds for that. This is the start of a long term project, so the support you give now will benefit us all for many years to come.
We are learning lots about each other, and growing as a family.
Time to rock the Malicon.
We will be back in Roblito mid-week after carnival.
Thanks for all your love and interest in this project.
Mountainous gratitude...

Thu, May 3, 2007 - 5:57 AMYou spoke of Jamie's house to me, got pics, etc...?
Anyways, not worried, when I'll get over there, things will be clear to me.
I'm one that needs to be in the 'environment' to seize the 'lay of the land',
and get things in order and going!
yours,
Mark. -
