Re: Jefferson/Park County 285 area
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 12:20 PMA good ghost town to camp in is como and you can find that at www.ghosttowns.com most of the stuff in jeff co is not goog for camping. too populated. Are you talking about as a place to stop on your way to somewhere else or a place to just go to cause mosquito pass is sweet its up past fairplay north of it. It has a bunch of old mines and I found a pretty awsome peice of citrine when I was 10 that I still have and well I was 10 and didnt know what it was besides it was cool. it is really pretty there but rocks you can find a non rocky part though. It depends on if you just want to stop off the road or as a place to go to. -

Re: Jefferson/Park County 285 area
Thu, July 21, 2005 - 12:34 PMIf your just looking for somehting cool you can take Guennella pass up of the mountain from Grant to Georgetown there is another old minning ghosttown up there that is pretty awsome. By great great great whatever 7 generations ago grandmother was born there. But it actually is pretty awsome great views. but the road is crazy coming down from the top to georgetown.
This shows you the national forests around there gorp.away.com/gorp/location/co/co_nc.htm
so you can camp for free without risk -

Thu, July 21, 2005 - 12:41 PMwww.coloradodirectory.com/maps/...a.html
This shows you that there is free camping all around. just pull off the road in a national forest on a side dirt road and then camp anywhere. just dont touch standing trees. only make fire with wood that is dead and lying on the ground. just pick it up dont chop or anything. Rotting trees work good. if not too wet
