Okay, youse guys, I'm trying to remember the last couple of sections of Rocky's Wala Wahed choreography. I've got her notes and I'm wondering what a "pullback" is? I know she uses it at the beginning of the choreo to do 2 half-circles, but I just realized I've been doing paddle turns instead. But she uses them again in section 9 and I'm scratching my head. (Sections 7,8, and 9 didn't get fused in my brain, unfortunately.) Would anyone be willing to describe this move to me? I remember watching her do it and having my body go: Hm, what? Do a paddle turn, you at least get that.
Moderator, sorry if this post is inappropriate. I don't *think* I'm committing a copyright no-no, but feel free to delete if so. I just thought I'd ask the Rocky aficionadas before emailing the lady herself. (Oh, and Aunt Rocky, do feel free to chime in if you're reading!)

Re: "Pullback"?
Fri, March 16, 2007 - 9:55 PMNo problem, Taj... with Rocky as busy as she is, she might not be able to answer, so asking others that are in the know is just fine. :-)
It's still about her, after all, so how could I say no??? ;-)
I think I know what the terminology is, but I'll wait for those that are positive...I think she used a similar phrase in the choreo she taught here in Houston. -

Re: "Pullback"?
Tue, May 22, 2007 - 1:28 PMI seem to remember that a Rocky "pull back" is a backwards turn- for Walah Wahed, I *think* we had one arm up, one hand gently set on our cheek, and it was like doing a paddle turn, but clockwise, with our left feet in the "middle" and our right feet pulling us to the right, backwards, to do a turn.
Sorry if that's a muddled explanation, but my clearest memory is of doing this turn while she said, "Pull, pull, pull!" -

Re: "Pullback"?
Wed, May 23, 2007 - 10:55 AMthat seems right. Not sure. She'll be back in town the first week in June, and I'll be in her class. I'll try to remember to ask.
