Rollerball: Duff's rules questions

topic posted Wed, October 10, 2007 - 12:51 PM by  parduz
Hi to all from Italy (so pls excuse my poor english)
I'm trying to build-up the Duff's Rollerball boardgame.
I've some trouble with the movements rules, when the facing is the unusual one (the forward direction point to a corner of the hex, and not to a side).
Look at is "Diagram 1" (www.freewargamesrules.co.uk/Rule...gif), in the "forward movement":

1)when a player go at an odd speed, the last hex he moves in must be one of the two adjacent to the hex corner he is facing... should this be considered a "slip"?

2) When he move forward by two hexes, the player "runs" on a line... What if, in one of the two hexes having this line as a side, there is a opposite player? Is it a "hit" or the player can pass? and if both the hexes are occupied?

After all, i'm drawing some paper counter a bit more nicer than the basic ones found with the game rules. I will be happy to give to Duff (if he likes them) the final result... how and where can i send the file?

    Hello, Parduz.

Thanks for trying my game rules.

    1) I suggest adjusting the position of the figure into the lower of the two hexes. Don't count this as a maneuver.

    2) If the player moves along his path and overlaps with another player, it is a collision. If he's moving along the line, only half of his figure will overlap, but this is enough.

The player might take advantage of this to grapple or check the other player if he is otherwise allowed to do it.

Resolve the collision, and if he does not fall as a result, keep moving the player along his path.

    3) I will pm my email address for you to send the file. Thanks for that.
