Yesterday I ordered the FCBD set "The Art of Bellydance". But soon I want to get some other FCBD instructional DVD's. What should I buy next if I can buy only two or three at a time?
I will have already learned some basics from the "Art of Bellydance" set. And there is some instruction on zills that I can add to what I already know. So if I can only buy two DVD's at a time for now, I'm guessing that I would benefit most from Volumes One and Four. (As opposed to buying Volumes One and Two or One and Three. I'm also thinking about Gypsy Caravan DVD's and also stuff from dancers like Rachel Brice.
I work second shift Monday through Thursday so I don't have a lot of choices when it comes to class days and times.

Re: I'm now crazy about tribal and tribal fusion instead of cabaret.
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 9:38 AMI do teach tribal fusion when it's desired....there is an ATS teacher in town, too.
Check out Habibi Ru as well...Rachel's I wouldn't get if you are looking for tribal fusion instruction...look into Ariellah's DVD, Asharah's that is coming out, and FCBD 1, 4 and 7. Also Kajira's BSBD 1 and 2, though IAMED. -

Re: I'm now crazy about tribal and tribal fusion instead of cabaret.
Mon, November 5, 2007 - 10:52 AMFor awhile it seemed that life just kind of sucked with hubby not getting enough hours doing electrical work and me getting tired of having so little money left over for fun. So I didn't really want to do much beyond what I have to do. (Work.) Plus, my job I have now is second shift Monday through Thursday. (So no free time for classes on those nights.) :-( I've never been a fan of second shifts and when I'm not such a new employee, I'll start hinting around about first shift.
Hubby just got a job with a real employer so things are getting way better, but I'm still on second shift. And just before that, tribal and tribal fusion quickly pushed cabaret to the very back of my mind.
I want to study tribal fusion, but maybe you want to get more students who are interested in it before having a class for it. And then there is me with the four weeknights at work. <Sigh> And as for ATS, Fraya won't be having Saturday classes this winter quarter. She even had to cancel the Saturday classes this quarter because there weren't enough students.
But SkittleBug (hubby) and I joined Gold's Gym where they have Marcia's class on Friday nights. (Even though it's mainly just for exercise and not learning dances.) I ordered two of the Balady scimitars from Kult of Athena. I love stuff like that. (Hey all you folks who wanted them, they'll be coming in this month!) I've been selling CD's, DVD's, books, and zills I didn't want anymore and getting other stuff. I'll check out the DVD's you recommended, too.
I also read something about the student show being on January 12. If I can learn a dance (and put together a costume that won't have my extra fat sticking out of it), that would be great. If not, I'll be in the audience.
Have you heard from anyone named Holly? She's on first shift where I work. She was kind of interested in bellydancing, so I told her about your website. -

Re: I'm now crazy about tribal and tribal fusion instead of cabaret.
Wed, November 7, 2007 - 4:39 AMAvoid Marcia's classes. She has been sick and has a lovely student teaching them for her from time to time, but she has no formal training what so ever, and has never been taught body posturing. The student is going to be a phenomenal dancer, but she is DVD taught.
I have Mel and Lilaya doing Wednesdays at 6, but as of January, everything will be Fri/Sat/Sun while Im working on my Master's, so never fear!!! More classes are coming!
