GREETINGS from Port Deptford's Mayoral Campaign in the Arse himself, Downright!
Have you met the Candidates? Have you chosen a Candidate? Have YOU voted!?
If any of these answers are "no", it is my duty to tell you there is no better time than NOW to get the vote out!! You have 3.5 great, diverse and well...rounded...candidates to choose from. Each one with a unique and strong platform to better the town of Port Deptford. Ask any of them and they will tell you.
If you don't know who they are, well let me refresh your memories!
Sir Thaddeus Foote:
A man of Progress, a man with strong business leadership and knowledge. A man who will take the next Foote forward for Port Deptford. A vote for Foote is a step in the right direction.
Don Gussepi:
Don Gussepi is for protection! If you want things to run smoothly on the docks of this Port Town, a vote (or a financial tribute) will make it happen. He's here to make sure things run in the right direction...don't be a wise guy, Vote Gussepi!
Ophelia Oliver:
She's for virtue, she's for progress, and she’s for YOU! *cough* what could define change more for Port Deptford than a WOMAN as mayor. The very leader of England is a woman, why shouldn't Port Deptford be just the same? Vote Ophelia, More women's rights more men in tights!
The Brothers Sty, Larold and Barold:
One is shy, the other is sly...no matter how you put it...they are Sty! Don't let the thought...or smell of these two fine Pig Farmers lead you a stray. The Sty brothers are here to stay. If you think we need a taller Mayor, Larold is your man. No one speaks better for him than your vote! STY!
You can go wrong with any of these fine candidates! So choose one! Get behind them, well except for Larold...that could kill someone. Show your support and get the Vote out!!
VOTE EARLY, VOTE OFTEN!
Downright, Campaign Manager

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 12:08 PMSaturday afternoon, there were no ballots. :-(
I tried to vote... went to three stages.... no ballots. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 12:30 PMYes, that seems to be a constant problem. We keep running out of ballots. Generally by about 3, at the Reef... -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:29 PMHmmm. Odd that the reef ballots keep dissapearing...
Carlos does his best to keep the ballots supplied to the boxes as needed. Let one of us stage managers, or Carlos himself, know if one of them is out. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:44 PMBecause it was annonced that only "Carlos printed" ballots would count, there has been a run on people taking ballots for "write in's" empting ballot supplies at many locations.
I as Campaign Manager will have ballots on me for those looking to vote for one of our fine candidates, as well as while campaigning at locations without ballots customers will still have an opportunity to vote. I will not give ballots out for "Write in's" so don't ask.
We run out of ballots right after Lord Mayors show at the Main Stage box because the candidates campaign before and directly afterwards at that location. -

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 4:33 PMWhy is all of this lovely debate online? Wouldn't it be better before an audience? -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 5:12 PMAny reference to Pink Floyd would probably fail the test as Period. I'm no expert of course... -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 6:05 PMTHAT'S true. But the preceding parts were very good, about the theater, the vino, the silks. . . -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 6:29 PMCatch me by a ballot box and you'll hear all of this and even some that I would never type here :) -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 6:52 PMCool!
One of the women of St. Cuthbert's is out on the streets bribing people to vote for Don Giuseppe, since otherwise he will take her house. It makes a great gig, and she's even made tiny pouches of "bribe money" to do it with. She bribes the travelers to vote for her candidate by asking them if they are corruptible. Isn't it fabulous?

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 12:45 PMYou CAN go wrong with 3 1/2 of these candidates-
but you can't go wrong with Giuseppi!
It is true that many votes were cast early both Saturday and Sunday.
This I think has a lot to do with the candidates doing opening gate, and then working the streets, and then the Lord Mayor's Show at 12:15.
Thats an awful lot of people being encouraged to vote early in the day!
Well done to all 4 1/2 candidates and their campaign manager!
I know a lot of us are getting in on the fun of the elections and you and the candidates are doing a wonderful job.
Thanks for letting the rest of us play with you and your gig by voting and supporting the official candidates in their run for office!
:)

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 12:55 PMTrue, Don Guiseppe is a good candidate. " 'Tis a pity he are not English" The other 2.5 candidates are.
Vote for an Englishman, er woman. The monarch of our great country is a woman, why not the mayor of a small, relatively inconsequential town!
Vote for Ophelia Oliver!! She has class, she has looks, she has a dozen stout Boggards and eight of the finest ale Wives as her immeiate support staff. She's clean, she's uncorruptable and (according to her election posters) she'll invite you to the Kegger when she wins! -

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:23 PMJust remember that Sir Thaddeus Foot is a loyal subject of the Queen, a lifelong Depforder, and someone just like you, except perhaps a bit more so. He's very unlikely to accept bribes as he's too busy offering them, And he represents your values, whatever they may be. He's someone who won't rock the boat, because he owns it. In short, (No, that's Guiseppi) In Summary, traditional political values looking to a bright future covered with gravy for all, amen. That's been a winning political formula for quite a long time. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:34 PMI have a question for Sir Thaddeus.
Will that be sausage gravy? Beef gravy? -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:45 PMWell I will certainly be sensitive to the ethnic diversity of our proud community, so let me say that there will be a wide variety of gravies, and considerable variations in the size of said servings, but you knew that without me telling you. I have faith in my electorate.
I would sometimes use the term "Pork" but in our particular electoral context, it would be rife with the possibility of confusing my own enlightened and experience-based policies with that which passes for policy of one and a half of my electoral rivals, and in this enlightened time, obfuscation must be, in every way, and at every opportunity, eschewed. -

Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:50 PMYou use your mouth prettier than a twenty dollar whore. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:52 PMThis is praise from someone who brings expertise to bear on the subject, and I am humbled and grateful for it.
-
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:53 PMWhy are you opposed to pork? Why many of the fine families of Deptford feed their families on pork. I say, Pork Barrel poltics for Everyone! Except Gesipe because he might fall in. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:04 PMlet it be said here and now that I am in no way opposed to pork, and that it is an integral part of my platform. Indeed I have spent many a happy hour at the banquet table at stately Foot Manor savoring the "other white meat" in times both sweet and sour. My good fellow, I merely wished that the terminology would not inadvertently be interpreted as a reference, in a positive sense to certain political candidates who may have arisen from the, ahem, porcine husbandry disciplines. It is central to my political "raison d'etre" that my communications to my valued constituents above all be, lucid and transparent, and not subject to the vicissitudes of misinterpretation.
And the inside of a barrel might serve as a fine educational experience for our esteemed Don Guiseppe. Perhaps even an opportunity for travel abroad.

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:15 PMFor those cultured enough to enjoy the theatre, i would like to remind everyone that Don Guissepi has offered to have the GOVERNMENT build the theatre in Deptford for me and my actor/actoresses.
So if you want fine theatre availiabe for rich and poor, fine english culture provided by the government for the people of Deptford, then vote Guissepi! -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:20 PMYou just wait till 6th & 7th weekend...when I show the blackmail photographs to the astonishment of "all" the candiates :)
Candidates should see me Saturday of the 6th weekend to "stage" your blackmail photographs...
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:22 PMMy good fellow, you neglect to mention the project I have begun in seeking GRANTS for the wealthy folk of our community to build the theatre as a palace and temple of the performing arts as Depford most heartily deserves and certainly yearns for. The Government may have (and probably will find) many reasons to refuse. But I've accrued much loyalty and am owed significant favors by the moneyed class, you see...There will be ample comfortable chairs in the theatre with engraved brass plaques bearing the names of your enthusiastic sponsors, I assure you. Benefactors. Patrons, Supporters...Angels.
And with me helping support you, you'll have the inestimable advantage of presenting your plays in English, rather than italian...oh, he didn't mention that did he? -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:28 PMhmmm
i will have to speak with him about this!
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:29 PMAhh yes, I do believe I heard him say that only plays in Italian would be allowed and that would enjoy casting all the boy players himself. Privately.
But we, the Brothers Sty, have a place ready for theatre right now! We have an empty sty in the North West plot which would be perfect. Well, empty-ish I should say. It's where we keep our prize winning pig, Penolope.
and her sucklings.
They're really cute. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:40 PMumm...
yes...
i see...
and i am sure people come from ALL over to see... her...
so, i will keep this in mind when voting for Foote or Guissepi, your offer will not be forgotten!
*aside* who IS this guy?!? -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:44 PMI'm Larold Sty and this Penolope. Say hello Penolope.
>>oink<<
Hahahahaha! She is so funny. Maybe there is part for here in one of your plays? She'd make a great Juliet . . .
-
-
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:51 PMIndeed I have seen some of his proposals for the "Port Deptford Crescent Opera House"...amusing how the word "Theatre" is conspicuous by its absence.
-
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:23 PMI'm waiting for the promised samples of silk and vino before I vote for the Don. -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:41 PMRebecca-fear not!
Once your vote is cast your gifts will be sent directly.
And those plays will not be IN Itallian, but you will have the great actresses of Italy at your disposal for your casting sessions once he is elected! -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:44 PMWho only speak Italian? -
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 2:45 PMwould you have them squeel like a pig?

-
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:13 PMActually Gar is a wonderful teacher. We wanted Penolope to have some culture, and look who stood up! Gar the magnificant. Now Penolpe not only speaks Pig Latin but Swineheli as well!
-
Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:14 PMNo Italian as of yet, but Gar is working on it. -

Re: Vote Early, Vote Often
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 3:40 PMI was hoping for an ensemble trilogy, like Lard of the Rings.
With Porky Piggins, and his faithful companion, Sam Hamgee.
For those wanting more of an Italian storyline, Hogfather should be just the thing. -
