Jerry Wood's wife Jill passed away yesterday after a long struggle with cancer.
Many of you will remember Jerry as a member of the Company of Foote in St. Michael's where he played Captain Stoddard before Frank Licata took it over. Jerry was also integral in orchestrating the chaos of the infamous Chess Game hosted by St. Michael's and Blackshire's Company of Foote in the late 90's/early 2000. Both Jerry and Jill retired from Faire to pursue other activities and to raise their daughter Susannah.
Jerry, Jill and Susannah recently moved to Colorado Springs, CO for the quality of life and to avoid the ever rising costs here in Southern California. They recently purchased a house and are expecting to move into it by the end of this month.
Jerry, while not alone, does not have the support and comfort of many of his longstanding friends from Faire in a time when he needs it. Please feel free to contact him at:
jerry.wood@st-mike.org
Discussions will be taking place regarding a memorial service for Jill here in Southern California in about a month.
Below is an e-mail sent out yesterday:

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that we make this announcement. Just a short time ago, Jill passed on, succumbing to her struggle with cancer.
Jerry, her husband, best friend, companion, love, partner, co-planner, and biggest supporter was present. He had to begin the process of notifying the hundreds of friends and family to all of whom this loss will be deeply felt. Please give him some time and do not attempt to call him. He'll let us all know when he's ready to talk with his extended family and know that their immediate family is huge, many of them are with him now or on their way to Colorado.
Here's the contact information:
Jerry and Susannah Wood

e-mail: jerry.wood@st-mike.org
Their daughter, Susannah, is in the loving care of her grandparents in Orange County, Larry and Ethel, who have taken on the mission of letting her know and of providing her comfort until she can be reunited with her father. She has been told and asked for the company of a close friend here in Southern California while she waits.
If you can find any joy within yourself, express it for Jill; she is in a better place.
Bless those who mourn, eternal God,
with the comfort of your love
that they may face each new day with hope
and the certainty that nothing can destroy
the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful,
their days enriched with friendship,
and their lives encircled by your love.
Amen.
Thank you
Michael & Patricia Foster

Re: Another Passing - Jill Wood
Wed, July 23, 2008 - 7:46 PMJerry was my Captain in the Company of Foote when I first joined the Faire ... I learned a lot about theatrics and separating the character from the man from Jerry. His wife was always a very gracious hostess when we'd come over.
Sadly, I never got to know her very well... but I know lots of people who were very close to Jill and Jerry ... I mourn for the loss that my friends feel. I celebrate the life she lived. I cry for the pain my friends are going through. And I hope that she is in a better place and free from the discomfort which the cancer put her through.
... I will miss you Jill Wood. You were always kind to me and for that, my world feels a little less bright today.
