Who, in your opinion, is the best blue-eyed soul singer?
I vote for Van Morrison, although Elvis certainly got down with his bad self in the late 60s/early 70s (see his cover of J. Butler's "Only the Strong Survive" on From Elvis in Memphis).
Dusty Springfield had her moments as well.
Also, is anyone familiar with Eddie Hinton? I've heard some good things about him.

Re: Blue-Eyed Soul
Mon, April 5, 2004 - 9:46 AMAs difficult as it is to remember today, young Steve Winwood had some chops in the Spencer Davis days.
Probably the best blue-eyed soul single I've ever heard, though is "Stormy Monday Blues, Pts. 1 & 2" by Little Joe Cook (A/K/A Chris Farlowe).
Too bad that track isn't available on a good collection.
