  • Auto Repair - A+ Japanese Auto Repair

    Fri, July 8, 2005 - 4:40 PM

If you are in need of a good mechanic for imported vehicles, I hightly recommend "A+ Japanese Auto". They do a great job (both working on your car and communicating what the problem is), they are professional and well informed, and they're the nicest mechanics I've ever met. I've been using them for several years now and I can't say enough good things about them. Details follow:

  • Looking for a doctor

    Sat, July 9, 2005 - 12:30 AM
Does anyone have a good general practice physician that they can recommend? I really need to find a family doctor and would rather find someone with good references rather than pick someone out of of the phone book.

    Thanks in advance.

    Erawan Thai Restaurant 2639 Broadway

This restaurant opened recently and it's great! My husband and I agree, we've never had better Thai food anywhere. Prices are moderate and the service and atmosphere are very good.

  • Construction Contractors and Suppliers

Lots of people have asked about the contractors that I used for my remodel, so below is a list of the people whom I recommend.

Moreover, If anyone has any questions regarding remodels, I'm happy to share what I learned (although once you get me started, you may not be able to get me to shut up). For our project, I acted as my own General Contractor with guidance from a general contracting consultant. That worked out wonderfully. It required more involvement, but it was a lot less expensive than hiring a full time general contractor and it was a great experience.

  • Indian Food Recommendations

Here's my favorite local Indian place. It's slightly more expensive than some of the other places, but the food is always fresh (even at the Buffet) and the quality is top notch. They also bake the best Nan.

I just discovered Saffron, and I think I'm probably going to stick with Suraj, down just south of Woodside. Saffron's food *is* fresh, but compared to other Indian places, the taste ranges from "distinctive" (chicken tikka masala, chicken curry) to "that ain't right" (navrattan korma that tasted all kinds of wrong). from where I am at Whipple and ECR, they're about equally convenient.
