Yule Bazaar next Sunday

Why am I spreading the news? Because my mom and I are one of the vendors. I have been involved in the holiday bazaar scene for decades. My mom and I love crafting and sharing what we make with our neighbors. I've always felt that bazaars are a holiday staple, browsing the tables, seeing how creative people can be with the things they make. My mom loves crafting with wood and fabric, I prefer knitting. Someone else makes soaps and lotions while another person does glasswork. Bazaars are a haven of crafters and shoppers alike. I hope you will come to OWOW's first Yule Bazaar that will become a part of the Pagan holiday tradition.

SAB Queen and King Update

This year's SAB King and Queen were blessed with the conception of a new baby at this year's Beltane, for those of you that are unaware; this was a very difficult pregnancy due to many complications. We are saddened to announce that after a grueling battle of a little over 5 months, our Queen went into labor early and began to hemorrhage needing emergency hysterectomy; unfortunately due to the early stages of the pregnancy Princess Irelynne was unable to survive out of the womb.

Our Queen underwent complex surgery and lost a lot of blood, she is now resting comfortably at their apartment awaiting the completion of the remodeling of their home. We would like to thank everyone for their healing energy and positive thoughts through all of this. There were many people in the community that really reached out to help and they want to take an opportunity to say "thank you", we would like to extend the invitation to all of you to join us at a fundraising even for our King and Queen on November 1, 2008 from 5:00pm-10:00pm at the PGE Conference Center.

Hannum House Bash!

Hi there everyone!

As Meredith's post regarding the update on our Queen and King stated, they are having quite a difficult time. In their time of need we would like to reach out to them to help them through. To that end we will be throwing a large party/fundraiser for them on November 1st that will include food, drink, live music, a DJ, a Comedy Central Style Roast of the King and more. This Bash for Cash is still in the planning phases and we need some help!

We need people with party throwing skills!

We need people who know people who can get things!

We need YOU!!!

If you have a talent or you have a desire to help but aren't sure what your talent is please send us an email at hannumhouse@gmail.com and let us know who you are and we will get you on the team.

We are currently in need of help in several different areas including items to auction off, food for the bash, people to sit and dial phones to ask local businesses for donations, people willing to go from business to business asking for donations, decorators, folks to help clean up after the bash, people to help us find businesses willing to give us a deal on the purchase of alcohol and much, much more.

For those of you who want to help but are short on time we have also opened a bank account at Wells Fargo. All you need to do is stop by any Wells Fargo account and let the teller know you want to make a donation to the Hannum House Fund account and they will make the deposit for you.

Update on Queen Jennifer and King Brian

For those of you who do not know, our Queen and King have been having a rough time.

Their home is currently not theirs, due to unexpected rain during the process of roofing, and inadequate measures to protect the home in case of rain. Their home was flooded. Asbestos and lead were discovered in the ceiling, and the recovery process spread these contaminants throughout their home. There are complications regarding the insurance that should have covered such a disaster, and they do not yet know what will be covered, if anything.

They are currently living in a hotel, having just found an apartment they will be able to move into towards the late end of this month. They have precious little of their belongings, and are waiting for test results to return which will determine if everything in their home that cannot be washed off (i.e. anything without material of any kind on it) is a complete loss.

In the meantime, their hotel has no cooking facilities, and they must eat out every meal. The best and easiest assistance that can be given to them at the moment would be gift certificates for local restaurants to assist them with these costs. Please contact me directly for information on where to mail them, or to make arrangements for them to be picked up. There will be more that can be done in the near future, please keep your eyes and hearts open - we've got a plan! :)

congrats and energy/support

Well, I have been having an internal debate on posting this or not as it is probably not my place but oh well. :P Anyway, for those of you who do not know, our Queen ad King (Jen and Brian) are now expecting a baby. This baby was conceived at Beltain. You may ask how we know this... well, when there are few options based on choice of when to use protection and when not, you kinda know, then you add the fact that ultra sound breaks it down to the day, there really is no question. Anyway, that is the congrats side. The energy/support side comes in to the fact that Jen is high risk, is having issues still with nausia, and is now diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and really, I would like to give more support but I am still reeling from my own whole energy drains and do not want to send muddled energy. As her friend, I know this is a time that she really could use our community. I know too that this can and will come in many ways. I just wanted to put it out there. Thanks.

TROUT LAKE, Wash. - Firefighters battling the out-of-control Cold Springs Fire near Mount Adams said Tuesday was going to be a make-or-break day in the battle against the 8,000-acre blaze.

The fire is burning in forested wilderness, but the small town of Glenwood sits about 10 miles from the fire. Residents have been given instructions in case an evacuation is ordered.

Crews are digging fire lines in hopes of turning the fast-moving fire to the north toward the flanks of Mount Adams and away from the town.

But high winds are expected again Tuesday afternoon that could give firefighters more trouble. The National Weather Service issued Red Flag warnings for winds from 25 mph to 40 mph for the area where the fire is burning.

The warnings, in effect until Wednesday evening, stretch from central Oregon to northern Washington.

Firefighters think a lightning strike on June 29 sparked a small fire that smoldered unnoticed for several weeks until it was fanned by wind into dry fuels nearby.

Crews started fighting the fire when it was only several acres in size but strong winds helped spread the blaze to 500 acres on Sunday and then to 6,000 acres on Monday.

By Tuesday, the fire was more than 8,000 acres. No containment estimates have been issued. Over 400 people are battling the blaze with aircraft, heavy equipment and ground teams.

Sunfest Song Book

So I have decided to have some fun with the Bardic circle this year at Sunfest. I thought that it would be fun to crate a song book and have fun singing them with all of you. When it comes to the Bardic circle at Sunfest we are ...not ... at all limited with what is in the song book. I'm hoping to see all kinds of other contribution's.

I have been having just the best time looking for Sun related songs, poems and stories. I have a whole list of stuff. A lot of Sun related things but they are not all sun related. Larry got me on a tangent... I have searched the internet high and low looking for the rest of the lyrics to " if you are happy and you know it rub my leg" but I'm having a hard time finding them. Would any of you know what they are or where to find them? If you do... please would you share with me.

But lets not let it stop there... why don't you share any of the camp songs that you know and if I think it will work I can add it to the song book. You don't have to share if you don't want to, you could surprise us with it at festival site. But you might find me asking you if i could have a copy to add to the song book for next year.

So think back to OutDoor School or Summer Camp or Cook outs or family camping trips. Think back and try to remember what song you sang. Songs that were silly, done in rounds, echo or what ever. Check and see if you can sing it and remember all the words, at the same time. May be you will think about sharing ...or .... maybe not.

I just wanted to thank all who have sent their well wishes and energy to Brian over the last few months. I also want to thank the Lord and Lady and those that have kept him protected as he walked away from his motorcycle accident on Saturday with some scrapes, bruises and a hurt wrist. The docs said there may be a small fracture but nothing that can been seen on an Xray. We can't say that much for his bike. It looks to be totaled.

Again thank you to all... the Goddess and God were with us again this weekend.

The grace of festivals that occur spontaneously on Fish and Wildlife land

Dear friends and strangers at the TIME:Beltane and SPACE:Klickitat River,

Isn't it interesting that we can just meet and have a wonderful time without it being a a "planned event" put on by a "group" with "members" or "dues" or "leaders". The idea of being one's own boss seems to produce a situation in which we all work together without having any formal structure or even knowing each others names. Having a Fish and Wildlife Vehicle pass seems to be the only requirement of a formal nature.

There has always been a keen individual and group awareness that local folks and the rangers/wardens can walk in this area at any time.Therefore we always need to be "neat and clean" around the campfire. Also be tuned into the STATE regulations that pertain to such an area. I need not belabor the point.

I am particularly telling whomever would heed and have an imagination that can withstand a smidge of caution, sense of discretion or whatever you might call it.

May exciting sightings...

... maybe nobody wants to hear that i "found", an uninvited house guest in my tent Saturnsdy night,
(who may be works for disney?) !
It was either the biggest mouse i've ever seen, or a small rat !

It was smart enough to follow lead to the plan of getting it out of my tent as soon as possible,
so i think it was a rat.

Then i heard some one lost a pet rat , and was very distraught that i had not met the pet rat and could have found the missing one!

But rats are very smart, (and country rats are smarter than city rats),
so am hoping this was just a country rat, without any human ties!!!

WOW, so that makes, a vulture, a coyote, a bald eagle, squirrels, a newt, two deer and a bear that i've seen, so far, this month!

They didn't work the way they had been trained to and were sore all the time.

begin around 5-5:30 ish, with the ceremony to happen around 6pm.
*There will be some lovely music playing, plus snacks provided to keep us happy till

*Take the lovely scenic paved trail along the river’s edge, or

I talked to many at the most wonderful Beltaine camps about my croning ceremony. I was going to hold it at OWOW SunFest, but conflicts with my Seattle children will make that date impossible. I will have it here on the Standing Stones Hill sometime later. I will, of course, be at SunFest.

Loving greetings from the Path...

and many thanks to all the beautiful pagan friends that made this Beltane an unforgettable experience yet again. Crunching along a path and greeting with open heart shining faces of people I haven't met yet and receiving warm welcome and a smile. Cooking breakfast and being invited to join a family going down to the river to pray. Sitting by the twin fires of our gods and seeing variously adorned folk take hearty aim at a strapping heathen lad with 'buns of steel' - wow - and the final stepping up by a woman who took his healthy measure. Three nymphs sunning themselves while I and Auntie Suz looked on appreciatively, enjoying their carefree pleasure in the Light. A sip of rue I'll not soon forget, and ah! the music. Spyder spinning all-ways, goddess of flame that she is, and as lovely as a Venus of warmed alabaster - and as pure. Stone soup for all and sundry, and a Temple that a Shah would not refuse. Fishscale clad nymphs crying out our freedom and more. Gouts of living fire bursting upon my sight, blown by mighty winds. A gods heart given with shaking hands to a many-gifted man, chosen by our Queen. Sips of wonderful butterscotch elixirs to warm the heart - but not more than the friendly hand offering them. Hugs from some with whom I have felt strained in courtesy and now have hope that the Way is clear. Our children from long ago growing up before my eyes, even as I grow into a broader (and slower) view myself. Warm baths given with skillful hands. Women singing and digging and planting and tending - LOVING - women, children, men...everything. A two-souled sister in recognition of our Selves sharing good words. Friends introducing their new partners in life: married at last (as are we!). Magical waters given in bottle green glass whose final place is unknown and unknowable...sacred signs drawn invisibly by artistically inclined branches scratching sigis on the windows of my soul...fire teaching to speak the Truth, and accept the consequences, and trust and believe that that is what god asks of us...one faint blue, the most timid beginning of luminosity, on the horizon...swelling and finally opening into a color so rare...so achingly fine...calling to silences filled with songs of angels (mighty messengers)...at last welling up and given voice as morning prayers to The Lady of Largest Heart...Inanna...Inanna...Inanna.....inanna........in...anna......in...(.....).....

Well it was interesting

I never thought that I would have gotten around to dragging my DJ equipment out into the forest and doing a gig, but I was convinced to do it. Kevin and Crystal even though you didn't get around to your handfasting and renewal it was a pleasure giving you an interesting sunday night even though there weren't too many people left and not many come over to enjoy it. All that matter to me was that Kevin and Crystal were happy and well they were so I don't care because those that needed to be happy were.

Perhaps next year I will bring it out again and try it all again.

SunFest Registration forms at SAB

SunFest registration forms will be avaible at SAB this comming weekend. Look for any OWOW member and we will be able to give you a form or direct you to where they are.

SunFest is June 19-22 on the Central Oregon coast, just south of Lincoln City on the Selitz River. It looks like it will be a blast this year. The theme of the Main Solstice Ritual is Norse, we will also have Workshops, Merchants, Adult and Teen bon fires, LOTS OF DRUMMING and Dancing, childrens acitvites and more.

Stone Soup!

MAGIC is bringing the big (30 or 50 gallon?) cauldron again, so that we can make another round of Stone Soup! It was wonderful last year, and we're hoping to repeat the success. Stone soup has a lot of different stories around it, but the basic premise is that if you have a pot and a stone, you can convince people to add things to your "stone soup", one person and one ingredient at a time, until you have a real soup. Then you share it with the people who contributed to it.

We're not adding stones, but we would like to get the community to contribute ingredients for the Soup. We will be dedicating this pot of yumminess to Inanna in honor of this year's Fall Equinox ritual. The rules are as follows:

No meat, dairy, or anything else that is dangerous when not cooked.
Minimum amount of Tomatoes (the Cauldron is cast iron).
Minimum amount of Legumes.
no bell peppers, as it is a common allergy among this community.

Other than that, here are some ideas:
Asparagus, artichoke hearts, basil, black pepper, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chives, dill, eggplant, garlic, green beans, kale, kidney beans, lima beans, macaroni noodles, mushrooms, okra, onions (red, white, or yellow), oregano, peas, potatoes (red, white, or blue), red cabbage, rosemary, rutabegas, sea salt, sage (the cooking kind, not the burning kind) spinach, squash, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, and of course, zukes.

So think about what you can contribute, and let us have it as early as you can. We will add ingredients all day Friday and Saturday. If you wanna bring some bread, that's the only thing that was missing last year. And, of course, we'll always need small pieces of firewood and fire watchers, as well as water.

On Friday night sometime, show up at MAGIC camp with your empty bowl and spoon on (or your own soup pot to fill up and take back to your campsite) and share with the community the beauty of blessed Soup!

Dreamdancer Accommodations

I am tickled pink that our sister Tonia Dreamdancer will be joining us this year for Beltane (woo hoo!)

Now, they will be arriving with limited gear, and though I was able to offer her the use of my back-up tent, we fear that it may be too small to accommodate her and her beau for the week/weekend.....

If anybody has something bigger than my blue-and-white igloo-ish tent that they may borrow for the festival, please let me know..... preferably one that will accommodate the mattress that NoNo is loaning her (I believe it's a Queen-size) or slightly larger to allow moving about the tent comfortably and the needed costume changes of our lovely 5 ft tall fairy......

For the love of a dying child

Please forgive me for the multiple postings. I’m trying to reach as many people as I can.
I am sending out this message to the pagan and Wiccan community at large so that those of you who care to help in whatever way you feel is appropriate and so that those who know this family and this child may be informed that she is in her last days of life.

The child’s name is Brittany Cassidy. Her mother, Brigid, was the first Queen at the southern Beltane. Her step father Mark was the SAB King with Queen Nono. Brittany is now 18 years old. She has suffered from cystic fibrosis since infancy. I have been fortunate to know her for some years now as our families have crossed paths in the community and we have been close at times. Close enough to know that despite her disease, she has, between hospital stays, led a vibrant and beautiful life.

Last week I was informed she had only maybe a month left to live as her liver has failed. I do apologize for not getting the word out sooner. She is at home with her family and there are several communities are helping with hospice, spiritual, and financial support and I hope we can come together as a community to help as well. If you know them and wish to contact them I have been asked that all requests form our community be funneled through me for the time being so that they are not inundated with phone calls and visits. Brigid has similar point people set up through other groups so your may contact them as well. I.e. Jobes Daughters the Masons and a few others. Please contact me through tribe or my phone.

There will be a vigil tonight at their home starting at 7pm. Please contact me for the address.

There is also a website that you may visit - www.catalyst-project.com . You can make donations through the website for the family. Just make sure that you are donating to Brittany as opposed to this wonderful organization and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the family. You will find her links on the home page of the website.

Why this gathering draws us so . . .

For 12 years, SAB has drawn me to the sacred river
The river where a tribe is formed . . . for just a short time
We honor spring, the new growth, the youth and new life of the year
We celebrate our sexual orientation
And breath the sex of plants so thick in the air
We make love to the rythms
Of fire circles and river's flow

And why is it that we return to this place so far from home? Why do we persist, through good years and incredible years, gun shots and all?

Perhaps it is the sense of tribe. Perhaps it is the gathering that can, above all other gatherings, take us to a new realm. A place where we can be a tribe, live free and in synchronicity with one another. The children of the clans all play as one and help each other watch for snakes. We bring alive the magic of camp, of village, and a glimpse into another life. A life like was lived by our ancestors, and must again soon by our children.

Perhaps it is the yet unrealized magnitude. . . of the potential contained within this tribe. The potential to show each other and ourselves how to live the way we really crave, how to share, resolve, love, pray, dance, and be in joy. The potential to move with the breath of spirit, the creator, the God and Goddess, the Sun and Earth. The potential that is yet so much deeper, when what we have already created is so beautiful, powerful, a truly altered realm. Our own realm altered and created by our love.

Perhaps it is the freedom. No fees or registration. Nobody in charge. Everyone is responsible. There are no structures. No rulers, and nobody turned away. The best, maybe, of what we have to show for our decades of persistence in redefining our culture? Perhaps it is a brief moment when we truly manifest an all important vision. For it is but a shared vision that makes this gathering. We all share a vision that makes this gathering so powerful. Now we can see, that With a commonly shared vision, there is little need for rules or entrenched social structures. With a commonly shared vision, we enter a new space and time, and live in the sacred and be reminded that it is only by choice that we visit this space once a year instead of living it everyday. It is with a commonly shared vision that we are blessed with the invocation of the God and Goddess into two of us. To bring a yet deeper connection to the divine. To guide us in the details of our manifested vision and bring the sacred deeper into our realm. Blessed are these 2, for they will walk the path of the turning of the year and know what it is to be Earth and Sun through Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

Perhaps it is drummers! Our dedicated masters of rhythm! Oh how we honor the drummers. Those who provide this current of raw energy that drives the tribe to dance. And then come the dancers! Oh how we honor the dancers. Those who move to the waves of energy and transform sound into movement.

Perhaps it is the healing! The healing that is offered by our river and the land. This land that is so loving and warm. This land of oak and pine and flowers. This land welcomes us into his strong embrace, and kisses us with her sensual delight. This land that is beyond description. This land that calls to my spirit, as one who has invoked it's mysteries and love.

Perhaps we all will be the ones, when things go further awry, and many are hungry and confused. When we are all grasping for answers to the coming chaos. Perhaps our tribe will sit everyone down and tell them, we have the vision to show us how to thrive, when others are dying. Now sit down my loves and listen close, for this is truly a SAB, SAB, story . . . . . . . . . .

Beltane this year falls on a Thur. Most folks will be doing their rituals on the week-in. My suggestion is that you do some form of Ritual on the given day. At some point during the day pause, hold sacred space and do ritual. You can do this solo, in small groups or large gatherings. This is a Fire and new beginnings Ritual. In the ancient days this was a day of sexual joining and fertility. Does not matter how you do your Ritual, what matters is that you do it.

Friday afternoon (or any time after) Ride to Beltane...

This year I have the opportunity to go to Beltane (I will be camping with Erin and Tineke and their group for those you who probably know them and do not know me) and I have never been before. I would really love to be able to share this experience with all of you, but everyone I am planning on camping with is going up Thursday night, and I am student who unfortunately has a Spanish midterm worth 25% of my grade on Friday from 2-3 that I am not allowed to reschedule. If anyone has space for an extra body in their car (I could chip in for gas) that's going up Friday after 3 (or obviously anytime after, I would just love to go) please let me know, I would be so gratfeful! Keeping it Clean at Beltane

Hi Beltane Community!

I propose a hand washing station for outside the concrete johnjohn. I will provide all materials needed and full instructions BUT Joel and I won't be on site until sometime Thursday. Is anyone interested in taking and maintaining this idea until I arrive to take over? This would mean setting up a table with three tubs: 1. soap and water, 2. bleach sanitizer, 3. vinegar rinse. Yes, vinegar rinse. If you've never tried it, vinegar cuts bleach instantly from your hands and you are baby handling fresh with a slight tang!

The whole idea is to avoid the occasional dysentary that floods camp when a few accidental not-so-good hand washings spread among our kissy, drink, and food sharing community. Nothing like being in line with 30 other folks hopping up and down trying to not make a mess...

Just an idea!

Well wishes for the Byrd

For some of you know Wendybyrd has had extremely painful flows all her life. Recently she was in the ER for abdominal cramping and after all the test they found that she has a 3" Fibroid which is a type of tumor. This is a benign tumor that resides in the muscle of the uterus. They also found that she has two cysts on one of her ovaries that are fairly common.

On Wednesday we went in for a pre-op appointment to discuss what to look forward to. Then on monday at 6:00 a.m. we are scheduled for surgery. Where she will be undergoing a full hysterectomy.

So I hope that you can send her some well wishes, healing and positive energy for her as she goes through this.

I want to thank you all for your support, well wishes, healing energy and prayers for Ms. Byrd.

I also have a couple of other announcements as well.

The first is that this year I will be bringing my younger brother and his roommate with us this year so I hope that we can welcome them in the only and best way that we can.

The second is a surprise that I will bring up at the main fire when I get the chance. So perhaps friday night if I can wrangle my way to the fire and get everyones attention. This will also depends on whether or not I can find Trevor before it gets to late or he gets too drunk. LOL!

Space for the Temple and it's Crew

If anyone is going up the weekend before, please contact me regarding placement for the Tantric Temple and it's crew.

We've squeezed into odd spaces in the past, and were hoping to establish a space near the main fire pit for this year, which would accomodate the Temple, the Stone Soup project, and the board of MAGIC in one place. We wouldn't mind others camping in and around us, but the Temple itself has a 25 ft. parameter footprint, and we have one crew tent that is nearly as large. Plus we'd like an existing firepit for the cauldron so that we can adhere to the "leave no trace" philosophy. My preference was stated to the Queen yesterday, so I'm crossing my fingers...

And, of course, I DO know the definition of Spiritual Anarchy.....so if it works out, great. If not...well...we tried.

SAB Preparation & Leave No Trace Guide

Just to remind folks -
Spiritual Anarchist Beltane has NO trash facilities and NO trash pick-up - which lends it the perfect opportunity to become a "Leave No Trace" (LNT) event. We are stewards of the land - beyond LNT, we should take into consideration the impact we have on the spaces where we celebrate & worship.

Here are some ways in which we can do that:

Plan Ahead & Prepare
* Bring camp plates, silverware, cups/mugs & cloth dishtowels to reduce use of paper products. (Thrift stores are GREAT for this!)
* Bring bio-degradable soaps to wash dishes & bio-degradable products for personal hygiene. (ESPECIALLY if you plan to "freshen up" in the river.
* Repackage food to minimize waste. Take packages out of boxes, recycle your boxes, and then, if need be, write contents on inner bag w/ a sharpie.
* Repackage much of your food into Tupperware type containers or re-purposed yogurt-type containers w lids that you can rinse and re-use again and again.
* Reduce our carbon impact on the planet & CARPOOL out to the site.
* Create a communal kitchen with friends/family to reduce the amount of equipment and food and waste. Here's a great Burning Man link to help you figure it out: http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/kitchens.html
* Know the regulations and special concerns for the area you're visiting (remember to pick up your parking permit BEFORE you arrive on site.).
* Prepare for extreme weather, hazards, and emergencies. There is NO medical staff ON DUTY @ SAB. If the ones who are there decide to help you - great! But it is not their ASSUMED responsibility. Also, be prepared for ticks & watch out for the snakes.

The "Outhouse"
* Bring 1-ply toilet paper for outhouse. 2-ply tends to clog the machines used to clean the ONE and ONLY toilet. -NO BABY WIPES!!
* Bring extra 1-ply roles to donate to the cause.
* Put the lid down when you're done - it helps keep odors under control.
* If you feel compelled to donate incense or candles to keep the smell down - please avoid really STRONG scents & refrain from bringing scented candles for some people are scent sensitive.
* DO NOT place tampons, cigarette butts, trash or ANYTHING else besides toilet paper and your body's eliminative wastes into the toilet!
* Do not dump grey water or bags from your personal "potty" in the portable.

Fire Safety & Guidelines
* Main Fire is a RITUAL FIRE - NO trash or cigarette butts should be thrown into the Main Fire.
* All structures should be 20 feet from any fire pit, burn pit or burn barrel.
* Do not burn anything but wood and cardboard in the fires; burning plastic and trash releases toxic fumes - this means cigarette butts, too!
* Minimize campfire impacts - use existing fire rings & keep fires small. Only use sticks from the ground that can be broken by hand -or better yet: bring your own wood.
* Use NON-river rocks to ring your fire pit. When water in river rocks heats up, it can explode the rock sending shards of rock into tents, people, & animals nearby.
* Dig your fire pit down at least 6".

Dispose of Waste Properly: Garbage & Recycling
* The feng shui of nothingness. Come with everything , leave with everything.
AGAIN - There is no garbage collection service at SAB! Every camp is responsible for its refuse. Trash is EVERYTHING you bring here: tent stakes, bottle caps, ashes, orange peels, compost, cigarette butts, pistachio shells, feathers, boa fibers, sequins. When we leave the place cleaner than we found it, it strengthens our positive relationship we've developed w/ the local rangers over the years.
* Clean up as you go! Trash is EVERYONE'S responsibility. When you see trash on the ground @ SAB, pick it up and take it with you!
* Better yet, prevent trash from happening. Observe this simple rule: Don't let it hit the ground.
* Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter.
* Bring your recycle bins or old paper grocery bags to sort your recyclables & bring them home to BE recycled.
* Use a mesh bag to hold your compost until you get home.
* If you must go in the woods: deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep at least 200 feet from water, camp, and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
* Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
* To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.
* Pack your trash loads SECURELY so that they do not fly off your rig on the way home.

Leave What You Find
* Preserve the past: examine, but do not touch, cultural or historic structures and artifacts.
* Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them.
* Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species.
* Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches.

Respect Wildlife
* Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them.
* Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, and exposes them to predators and other dangers.
* Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely.
* Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.
* Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter.

Share the Responsibility
* Share this information with friends, newbies & children attending event.

ribbon dying

Hello sweet ladies. Here are the dates for the ribbon dying. April 19-20 ,full moon is on the 20th so I thought hanging the beautiful ribbons in the trees for three nights to dry would bring the the full moon energy to our rite. Please show up at noon or so with ritual starting at 1pm. I thought a potluck would be nice, so we can have muchies thought out the day. BYOB and I will previde jucie, tea, coffee etc.
Whom ever would like to stay may , we have plenty of camp spots and some floor space. The ribbon dieing Priestess Rose has the bed in the house she might choose to share....
This is a ladies only event bring only yourselves and your little girls, if a baby boy needs to be brought I understand, for mine will be there. He can't get anything out of his father :)

Camping pass

Every year we need a new "camping pass" from Washington State Fish and Wildlife. It is good for a year at many sites for parking and camping at some. We pick ours up at Vancouver Fred Meyers and they can be purchased at many sports/hunting stores.

Please don't forget the "pass". Be sure and remember everything that you need for comfort and safety as we are a long ways out.

I am looking forward to a good time. Everyone being their own boss and being responsible for their selves really works!

Another need for a ride to SAB....

Hi, I have a friend who will be flying into Portland for SAB, and we would love to save the burning of more oil by getting him a ride. He will be able to fly in anytime Mon. the 28th or after, and the sooner he can get there the better. We (Ezra, September, and I) will already be there. He can pitch in for gas, is a lot of fun, and super helpful...thanks!

Ride to Beltane

Hello all! Happy, HAPPY Spring!!!

I am looking for someone who is coming out on Saturday for the day or just arriving on Saturday, from Portland who might be able to give our coven's elder a ride out to the site. He no longer drives, and the rest of us will be arriving early and since he no longer is intrigued with camping out, will only be there for main ritual.

Also, just FYI, our dearest Tonia Dreamdancer and her lovely beau Oliver will be joining us this year for the first time in years! Hey Sienna, we ought to have some serious drum-butt rubbing going on this year!!! Hoorah!

Garb fabric selection for Inanna's festival!

This "workshop" is for taking advantage of Fabric Depot having a great (40% off) two day sale on March 7th and 8th, (and help each other select), garb fabric selection for something fabulous for Inanna's temple. Which will be taken home and washed before cutting/sewing.

For "newbies", and likewise for "authenticity", the best fabric is organic. That is cottons, silks, wools, rayon, linen and flax. They do not move around and stay put when you work with them. Also, for Inanna's festival this year, the weather might be warm yet in the afternoons at that time of year and so be perfect!

Fabric Depot is one of a kind and out of this world, so wear good walking shoes, bring a bottle of water and don't forget to eat before hand. (That is of course if you are like me!) (If you feel like you're the first one there, there is a little sitting area just inside the door at the store, but there is TONS to look at, so dive in!!!)

So, for those interested in... shopping together and then perhaps having tea afterwards, (someplace charming, on Belmont, The Tao or Pied Cow?). Sound fun?!

Later, we can learn to 'pull a thread' to make sure the garment does not twist once stitched or washed, if anyone is interested in starting their projects together.

(And if we all chip in (for the meager rental fee), we could use the cabin to lay out, cut and start sewing in that large space, together, but we can plan that a bit later.)

Firewood!

Croning

I read in Open Ways of a Celebration of The Crone. I am turning 65 the day after Embolc
(my son was born on Embolc) and will be in the hospital having my remaining breast removed due to cancer. Tthe other one went 10 years ago.
I saw that article and felt the breath of the our Lady whisper how good it woulld feel to close one chapter and celebrate a new one with my spirtual family. Any info on Croning rituals or celebrations would be greatly appreciated. i have some ideas but..........
This is not a just a Woman's mystery. Men are the counter weight, I would want them included.

Stone Soup!

MAGIC camp is planning on doing the Stone Soup thing again. This is based on a story from old Europe about an old woman who, one very lean winter, was able to feed an entire village by dragging her cauldron into the town square. She filled the pot with water, and added one flat stone in the bottom of the pot, hence the name "stone soup." The villagers one by one added other ingredients until the soup was yummy and plentiful enough for everyone.

Our idea is similar. We will bring the cauldron and build the fire and tend it. We'll even bring in some water. What I'm hoping you all will bring are vegetables to toss in. (NO MEAT! This creates a food hazard we can live without, so veggies only.) Oh, and not everyone has to bring garlic this year....:-).

Think:
Potatoes, carrots, onions (red, white, and green), cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radishes, grean beans, peas, turnips, rutabegas, leaks, raddicio, parsnips, kale, water chestnuts, and zucchini. Fresh herbs from gardens will be welcome too; rosemary, sage, fennel, thyme, oregano, and hopefully, basil. A few good chunky loaves of whole-grain bread would be cool to go with it.

In return, everyone on the property may stop by the MAGIC campsite (home of the Tantric Temple/Golden Nipple) and enjoy a bowlful of community-based wholesome yummy goodness. More than one wayward warrior and blissed-out blunderer was saved by the fruits of the cauldron last year as they left the main fire to wander into the darkness, and we hope to serve even more this year. Don't go home hungry!

Bring your own bowls, tho, cuz we don't do dishes!

True to the wood

I am a Vet , L'aura and I were at the clinic and we saw a vet using the most lovingly, polished, true to the wood cane we had ever seen. He said he made them in his garage, each one as it spoke to him. He has no problem with pagan staffs, just needed a person to tell them what they wanted and he could do it , this stick emmited such beauty and power ! I have no connection with this man except maybe one day finding a stick that talks to me and taking it to him to uncover the beauty in it.
