The forecast is calling for rain tomorrow... I was planning on bringing my son and one of his friends.. but if it's raining, we will not be there. I hope others decide to go though.. I think it would be fun to hoop in the rain.
I have been researching indoor venues for possible meeting places starting next month, but price may be an issue. So far, the least expensive option I have come up with is to rent a room at the Coloma Community Center in Sacramento. The rate is $30/hour though.. so if we reserve it for 2 hours, we're looking at $60. We put a deposit on the room as well.. which I'm willing to do.
Here's a description from their Web site:
Rescue Room: Dance and Ballet room only. This room features a mirrored wall and ballet bars. Contains storage nook and faucet.
* Square Footage: 900
* Distinguishing features: Full wall mirror, ballet bar.
Any input from the group would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rain Friday and Indoor option starting next month
Sat, October 13, 2007 - 2:48 PMFrom my experience with organizing the meets last winter indoors, I'd say a monetary barrier such as this one is not that big of deal. The place we were renting last winter was really great & I did not struggle too hard to find people to come out & pay 5 or 6 bucks a head to have some fun for a couple of hours.
It really depends on how much our tribe wants to get together this rainy season. I personally will drop work if I could to go hoop on an inpulse of course. I am curious to see where everyone else stands. I would love to get together this winter for some indoor spinning so count me in!
Hey, let's give some High School cafeterias, gyms & auditorium locations a try. Does anyone have children who attend a school with some knarly space that you can imagine hoopers spinning their butts off in? what would a local school charge to rent it out for a couple of hours on Fridays or weekends.
Hey, anythings possible when you put your hoop to it you guys!
Peace,
Joy -

Re: Rain Friday and Indoor option starting next month
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 11:43 AMI couldn't join you all last friday because I was visiting with my Dad from MI. But I can't wait to hoop with you all in Nov.
I'm totally down with indoor space, ready to chip in as long as I can make it out, which admittedly has been hard to do so far. I'd love a space with mirrors!
Is the Nov date the 9th? That could be good. I'm also game for an occasional Tuesday night, or even Wednesday if that works for a space and other folks.

Re: Rain Friday and Indoor option starting next month
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 7:09 PMHaven't made the last two months, but don't count me out. I've been practicing and making hoops.
I'm for an indoor space too or better yet a covered outdoor area like the farmers market area in davis or under the freeway where the sacto farmers market is....just ideas, the cold doesn't bother me much though, it might others.
See you in November I hope,
Daniel
