Hello all night fire people!
I live in the NY area and want to discover other festivals out of my area this summer. Any places you might recommend during the months of July and August? I know firedance and phoenixfire, any other ones? thanks in advance!! JM

Re: all night festivals
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 2:58 AMThanks for the mention!.....
However, it is NOT AT ALL clear if there will be another Bohemian Firecircle.
I guess I can say that 'self-motivated community co-created gathering' , as a concept, is NOT a common cultural concept. Too many of the participants prefer a passive participation and the result is that my wife Astrid and I end up with more work and schlepp that we want.
We are having a meeting today, Sunday, to decide if this event will continue, and if so, in what form.
If the Bohemian Firecircle implodes or otherwise changes form, I'll be sure to post something.
Thanks,
Bilhelm -

Re: all night festivals
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 2:12 PMThere are a couple of infant circles to check out, although I don't know all the details, anyone else??
One is in Montana, I believe late july or early august
There is also a budding San Diego circle...not sure of timing of their events (not even sure if they are sure yet) but it is sure to be a good time!

Re: all night festivals
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 2:15 PMOH yeah, and if you are in the SF Bay area at all in the summer,
The Bay Area Sparks collective does once monthly indoor fire circles that are super sweet in Oakland (usually the first sunday of the month)
www.sparkcollective.org
and there is a group in Santa Cruz that does a circle one night a month up in Ben Lommond area. (not sure how to get more info on that)

Re: all night festivals
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 3:23 PMour "budding" San Diego circle is called "SoCal Sacred Fire", or just "Sacred Fire".
we had a 1 night event this past summer - and we are going to 2 all-night fires (3 day event) next time.
dates haven't been set yet, but i think we are leaning towards mid June, 2008 (although May and October have also both been discussed).
we will let everyone know soon :)
bright dreams,
andrew

Re: all night festivals
Sun, September 30, 2007 - 6:09 PMThe Montana event is called Mountain Moon Summerfest and the website is here:
www.magickalmakings.com/summerfest/
I do not believe they have released dates for 2008 yet; the website still displays 2007 information. You might contact Morganne regarding this one - she attended this year and could probably give you the full scoop.

Thu, January 10, 2008 - 12:55 PMhi Junie Moon,
I think you already know about Forestdance in Mass over Labor Day weekend (every year). That may be a bit close for you.
If you are looking for similar magic during the winter, we are doing a Forestdance in Costa Rica in February. We may make this
one an annual event.

Re: all night festivals
Fri, January 11, 2008 - 8:40 AMthere are a bunch of music festivals on the west coast during the time frame you are asking, but not a lot of fire circle events (that i know of)...
if you want connections into that world, which is WAY different from the fire circle world, but sweet in its own right, lemme know and i can hook you up with a list of dates and states.
areas to check out with a decent drumming scene, or where there are fire tribe folks are:
portland, or
san diego, ca
las vegas, nv
i have heard something about austin having a fire circle this summer
ashland, or
eugene, or
vancouver, bc
on the east coast, a place where there is interesting drumming that is not all night....
New England Women's Herbal Conference-end of August
and i have heard of some all night drumming circles in PA, tho i dont have contact info or names of events, if i do find them i will post.
blessings abound

Fri, January 11, 2008 - 12:56 PMThere may be a SoCal Fire Circle sometime this summer, but last time I asked about it, the dates had not yet been finalized.
Once I hear something solid I'll cross post it in this tribe.

Re: all night festivals
Sat, January 12, 2008 - 10:05 AMhi Junie
it depnes on what exactly you are looking for. there are other types of gathering happening out west, that aren't necessarily sacred all night fire circle gatherings, but hold magic of their own.
Oregon Country Faire is supposed to be amazing, Faerie fest is also in Oregon, and there is supposed to be a great sustainability fest happening just after Phoenix Fire in CA called Solfest in Hopland.
blessings on your travels
