I'm trying to start a commercial MM business out here in New Mexico and it would be funny maybe if if were happening to someone I don't like
I have to tell some of the people I'm dealing with what the business is and it's funny because they might seem accepting but (so far) invariably they decide not to support the program, bla bla bla - I think they go and talk to the spouse or some relative or church friend or god knows and they say, "are out of your mind, "marijuana!!" And I never hear from the people again.
It's like a magic word that is almost guaranteed to stun the person you say it to for at least a second - giving you time to get the draw on them if need be! "Marijauna!" it's like hitting them with a stun grenade or something
like water i'll just find my way around or over or under flowing on and on ...

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 6:46 PMAnd noone wants to talk about it on the phone either. Everyone's all paranoid. lol It's supposed to be legal right? I think you should just go to the top and ask the city supervisor or Mayor. Or people that work with the policy. The marijuana political activists. Go to the source. Do everything above the board legally and there should be less problems. I would let as few people as possible know where the grow site is though. People have cameras and even 24 hour security guards. Depends on how big it is. You seem to know what youre doing though. If I lose my job I will work for you. : ) Even if it's just manning the dispensary. I know it may seem a bit much, but the dispensary in Arcata has bulletproof glass like a bank. Or like a KFC / Taco Bell in the ghetto. Unfortunately with the world turning more and more to shit on a daily basis I feel that's the best way to go. The people are still friendly. Theyre just protecting themselves and their marijuana. Theyre providing a service. And they have every right to be as cautious as they feel they need to be. Fortify everything. Get the local law people on your side. If the law says it's legal I say got for it. Just do it. But be safe and protect yourself every step of the way.
AND!!! Maybe you should come to Oakland and attend the Oaksterdam University and seek their council. If you want to do it you can stay at my place and take BART into Oakland. Oaksterdam is very close to a BART station. It's easy to get there and doesnt take too long.

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 6:59 PMWe'll do "delivery only" which is what every Provider so far seems to be doing. I think this is a way of putting pressure on the state to open some kind of distribution system. right now the grower must also distribute and first the grower must get a fax or snail mail with photocopy of the persons Medical Possession Card before any information or product can be exchanged. I think I've given up on the partner and I'll have to hire someone hourly to help when we get to that point and to help with deliveries. More money for us, right? I was trying to tell my wife that under my auspices after two or three big commercial grows, if she pays attention, she be one of the leading experts in the country on commercial medical marijuana grows ... but that did not impress her in the least! I keep thinking if I go down hard with an MS attack, want to get her or someone up to speed so that I don't have to worry about the crop. The last attack I was literally told I might die and I was more concerned about my abandoned nine plants back here! Drove my wife nuts! Eh, dying, whatever - how about my plants?
I will have security but I doubt criminals or feds would even be able to find my 22 acres of heaven. Plus this is New Mexico, I'll have my 357 on my hip. Peace and love baby send you back to eternity if I have to ... -

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 7:17 PMAre the gun laws there like TX & FL? I would love to be able to carry concealed weapon like my friend in TX.
It would be nice if what you have worked so hard to build could continue if something happens to you. Do you try to get in 1/2 an hour a day of cardio? I'll move there and be your partner and get a gun and ......... : ) I will work my ass off dude. It would be great if a dispensary could be opened in a busy area in the largest city near you. Call it "M." : ) I will pose as the owner and work there and manage it under your direction. It doesnt have to be a big place at all. It would be cool if it could be in one of those places like a drive up coffee place. Or just a regular storefront with the thick glass like a check cashing place. I would prefer to model it on the dispensary in Arcata. They run a good biz. I have their name address, phone and fax from their business card if you wish to contact them. They are really friendly and would possibly be willing to help with info or any other way they can. I could be wrong. But it just seems like they would be cool like that. It's not hurting them at all and it actually helps them and everyone else if we all help each other in this realm. -

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 7:21 PMthanks i've spoken with some dispensaries really all I need is to get going - well, money would help.
one organization submitted an application to the state not to grow - called a Providers license - but to distribute and it was turned down but that shows me that it is only a matter of time before somekind of distribution system arises here. You have to go to a lot of expense and hassle just to submit an application. -

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 7:31 PMWhat is the biggest city near you and how far away is it? Maybe we could raise money with fundraisers for the cause. All the current medical cannabis patient cardholders could be invited to a big event with speakers and perhaps live music. A political event to garner the whole community to support the opening of "M". Or whatever county it's in it could be called "The ________ Cooperative." OR, maybe you could get some heavyweights on your side to financially back you and also pay for a good attorney to help you. Every step of the way. Pay to have it done right. Contact Dennis Peron and see what he says. : ) Or San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano. Or "Americans For Safe Access." Funny I was just looking at my Brownie Mary cookbook yesterday. : )

This is the one I have. I got it at a fundraiser at a bar in the Castro called The Bear. ( Which isnt there anymore. ) That was a fun day. -

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 8:11 PMthing to remember is NM is nothing like CA - at all.
Nearest town would be Grants NM which is a dive with a walmart, frankly - it is about 60 miles and the nearest grocery store so once a week with coolers to keep food cold on the long trip home and that means an extra fridge and a big freezer. There are some small stores and gas stations closer along with a few restaurants - this is truly remote country
But already I feel the sense of community - "O man do we need you here!" said a sixty something year old hard working ex-Texan who has lived up there off the grid with his wife for fifteen years. He'll do the bridge I need to build over th arroyo and the road up to the back of the property and the septic and also he is a master electrician who happens to be trying to get MM card from state for his migraines - and who said he will help me set up my off the grid power using Propane generator, Wind Turbine and solar all integrated with the storage batteries enough to run a small town when we're done he said.
I told him I can grow his four plants for him after getting a "Caretaker" license for him if he wants. I'll have this state of the art grow facility and I think I'll add an extra table so I can grow my own and this guys and there may be other neighbors. I am committed to doing this head on straight up and that means gettting involved in the community. Time to take that stigma off of our medicine, man. Donations to local organizations, part of my charter will be giving five percent of each grow free to hospice care. Hoping to eventually get the other growers in the state involved in this program. I think all hospices should have free weed.
not coincidence but directions! -

Re: The magic word that melts minds
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 8:16 PMalso, since we'll be a "non-profit" I can solicit and take donations
Eventually, I want to open an overnight facility for medical card holders - and yes families! - that is handicapped accessible and we'll have therapy horses and a therapy petting zoo. My long term goal is to open a small hospice on the property but that is a long shot - I almost don't like to say it, it's so tenuous -

Tue, July 14, 2009 - 6:17 AMMy ex man wants to open a board and care. He's a nurse and used to own a gym / massage center. He's a caregiver also. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: The magic word that melts minds
Tue, July 14, 2009 - 6:40 AMwished he lived in New Mexico! The hardest thing here is that you must have a "medical board member" on your non profit board and this is my holy grail now - everytime I get a lead, it vanishes like a mirage. It can be a doctor or nurse (or medical professional who can prescribe meds) -
