DEA's War on Patients Reaches Sacramento! There are Only 2 Weeks Left to Mobilize a Statewide Response!
Dear ASA Supporter,
The war against patients and providers is escalating. Yesterday morning, the DEA raided the oldest operating dispensary in Sacramento, River City Patient Center. Independently from the Sacramento raid, yesterday, the DEA also attacked an Oakland edible manufacturing company by raiding several satellite production facilities, arresting 3 employees, and killing one of the employees' dog. Last week, the DEA wielded once more its newest weapon against the medical marijuana movement by victimizing third-party landlords of dispensaries in Santa Barbara, by issuing asset forfeiture letters. For analysis of the raid yesterday and DEA's escalating attacks, read a blog posting by
Rebecca Saltzman, ASA's Chief of Staff, at www.americansforsafeaccess.org/blog/
(Look for a full report on the raids in tomorrow's CA Weekly Alert.)
Now is the time to act! We can no longer afford to sit back and wait, hoping attacks like these stop on their own accord. We must call on Governor Schwarzenegger to stand up against the Bush Administration's DEA and protect California patients' rights. We need you to support this campaign by getting the word out about the statewide mobilization to the Governor’s office in Los Angeles on October 11th at 12:00pm.
Download the mobilization flyer and poster right now and distribute them in your community!

Our goal is to turn out thousands of medical marijuana supporters to the mobilization in Los Angeles! We need to show the Governor, the state of California, and the federal government that the medical marijuana community must be protected! The only way we can do this is if people like you help get the word out! Download and distribute the following materials in your community to get the word out about the Governor Schwarzenegger: Stand Up For Patients Rights campaign! Distribute ASA's poster and flyer in local shops, cafes, dispensaries, and other community gathering places to get others to take action.
Once more, this week we need you to help us get the word out about the mobilization. If you didn't take action last week by calling Governor Schwarzenegger, please make sure you do so! Please call the Governor's Headquarters in Sacramento: 916-445-2841. Be sure to talk to a Constituents Affairs Representative, if calling between 9 a.m -5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

"Hello, my name is Insert Your Name and I live in Insert Your City in California. Thousands of California medical marijuana patients depend on safe access to medicine to treat the chronic and terminal disease symptoms. The federal government has taken serious actions to raid, arrest, and prosecute hundreds of patients and providers, publicly stating that they will not recognize the validity of our law.
On Thursday, October 11, we are gathering at your office in Los Angeles, I urge you to join us on that day to stand up for patients’ rights. I also urge you to defend California's laws and call on the Bush Administration to end the attack on patients and providers. Please let me know what you plan to do."
Please let ASA know you've called the governor by e-mailing Sonnet@AmericansforSafeAccess.org.
Thank you for your support and for taking action during these trying times. Your efforts help protect safe and legal access for patients.
Sincerely,
Sonnet Seeborg Gabbard
