New Mexico Medical Marijuana

Here it is very difficult to find a doctor to sign your medical marijuana paperwork. I lucked out and my family doctor signed it - he has been pretty compliant since I got MS? Good, I guess. I'm hearing that most people who want cards are having to travel to this one doctor in Truth or Consequences New Mexico. Also, here the state has the strictest MM laws in the country. You actually have to have a pretty serious medical condition to get approved for MM. The only "psychological" condition now approved is PTSD. Good news is that the system is set up to change and people are hammering the state health dept with personal exemption requests and with requests to add addtional illnesses to those "approved" for MM.

In the entire state, the lastest I could gather, is that only 369 individuals have cards - but there is no where to buy MM in the state yet - the first commercial grower - called a "Provider" that can legally grow up to 95 mature plants for distribution to MM patients within the state - does not yet have any product. There are now ten Provider applications submitted to the state and two have been approved and only one is actually in production and says they should have product around middle of July.

I'm trying my best to get a Provider license myself but what a pain in the ass. Incorporating a non-profit is lengthy and annoying but the hardest part of all is find a "Medical Board Member" which one must have to be approved by the state. The board member must be a doctor or nurse or "other medical provider" which is defined as anyone who can write a prescription in the state. I thought I had a great lead but she said that she and everyone she spoke with at the hospice is just too afradi to put their professional license on the line for this MM business. I don't blame them, really.

When you say the word, "Marijuana" peoples minds often just turn to jelly, like it's some magic word or somethig. After that any logic or reason is gone

the law passed in the state of New Mexico state that patients requiring medical marijuana must have access to it but yet there is no access to it and the state's answer is to set this system of growers with no price guidelines - of course, no insurence will pay for this and most of the people in the state with medical marijuana have a serious disabling medical condition, and as I can attest, someone on disability does not have $300 dollars a month or more to spend on MM?

Myself, I grow it with a license to grow for myself only issued by the state health dept but the last I heard there are only 23 grow licenses like mine issued in the whole state for personal growing while only since January 15 ten commercial licenses to grow are already in the works throughout the state, one in Rosewell, one in Las Cruces and all up and down RT25 in the Albuqueque to Santa Fe corridor.

Remains to be seen what the pricing will be?
