First and foremost I would like to extend a HUGE 'Thank You' to everybody who came and participated at the Iris Festival Parade on our beautiful float. The awesome people who came braved some very hot weather to be there, but I think we can all agree it was well worth it to be out in the community and letting people see what the Salem Community Drum Circle is all about. So, my humble thanks.
'Tis the season to be busy! There are a few events coming up for anyone who is interested in participating:
Saturday, June 21st from 5pm - ??? the SCDC has once again been asked to come enjoy the festivities at the summer Middle Earth Gathering up at Silver Creek Falls in Silverton. A lot of people comment that this is an experience not to be missed and the drumming and surroundings are extraordinary. The festival-goers really get into the drumming and it's a lot of fun. You are welcome to spend the night at the lodge, but if you plan to stay further than that you may be subject to festival fees and/or volunteering. SCDC is invited as a guest for the night. Please email/call/text me or Joe Start if you have any questions. Joe's phone number is 503-873-6729 and mine is 503-409-1977.
Saturday, June 28th from 3:30pm - 5(ish) the SCDC has been asked to perform for a couple of hours at Salem's World Beat Festival at Riverfront Park. We will be in what I am told is the martial arts area over by the pavilion at the northern end of the park. More details to come. We could use as many drummers as want to come. I would bring your own chair if you wish to sit, otherwise the grass will have to do. Please shoot me an email or give me a call if you're interested. I don't work in telepathy, so if you want to come, speak up!
...and MOST importantly...
EVERY WEDNESDAY, 7pm-9pm at Salem's Riverfront Park.... the Salem Community Drum Circle! Rain or shine, please come down and enjoy the drumming and company. Children are welcome, dancers and spinners are welcome... YOU are welcome. Hope to see you there!
