Saligrama: Seeing God In Stone ॐ

moderated - created 09/25/06
This tribe is for those interested or curious about the ancient practice of worshiping God in the form of the Saligram Sila. The Saligram is an extremely sacred stone found in the holy Gandhaki river in the Himalayans. They are considered the same as the Supreme Lord Himself (Bhagavan) and are worshiped throughout temples in India, Nepal and Bangladesh.

In recent times, His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada educated many westerners so that they could appreciate this specific form of worship. Now Saligrams are being served in the furthest reaches of the globe and are benedicting the Earth and its inhabitants.

""He who maintains the Shaligrama shila, the Tulasi, and the conch in one place, becomes very dear to Lord Narayana." - Brahma Vaivaarta Purana

Disclaimer:

The subject matter and images here are, sadly, not for everyone. If you would like to become a member of this tribe and have no hang-ups with this type of worship or with those who keep such affections then you are more than welcome to join us.

If you have no faith in God, or doubt that He can appear in any form He likes, be it a burning bush, in sound, in stone, or EVEN our hearts, or whatever and wherever He likes - then it might be a good time to hit the back button on your menu bar and leave this tribe. This place is probably not for you.
