World Hoop Day!

Come celebrate world hoop day with your San Diego Hoopers! We will be hoopin' it up down in Ocean Beach San Diego on 8/8/08 from 6:30-8:30pm at the west end of Newport on the grass. Bring hoops, other toys, and dress up with us! Wear your most hooptastic costume and have fun! (Costumes are not required, but will add to your experience). We will have treats to keep your hoopin' energy up, and would appreciate anyone who would like to contribute by bringing a snack to share.
There will be a hoop raffle give away for all those who participate, so come on down and have a great time with us! You might end up taking home a brand new hoop!

I didn't even know this tribe existed! Just wanted to invite everyone to our HoopNectar jams and classes around San Diego. We have been holding weekend outdoor classes and jams for the last few months and our tribe is growing! I took my first Hoop Path workshop almost exactly a year ago and it was a mind-blowing experience. Need a hula hoop seller for a private event

Looking for someone who sells their own hula-hoops and can give beginner lessons to potential customers for a vendor sale event.

I have a vendor booth at a private bazaar on November 10th (5pm to 9 pm) in San Diego.

I’m looking for someone to share my booth and sell their hula hoops.
Vendor booth fee: 10% goes to the event charity.
Audience: Kids to adults - suburban housewives to Burner adults

I’m also looking for someone who can teach poi – however I will be selling basic poi sets so just need someone to teach. The person who teaches poi will get a small commission for each poi set sell they make.

The teaching thing is basically just showing people ‘how to’ in hopes of buying products.

Hooping at the Library

Hello - I am a Children's Librarian at the South Chula Vista Public Library. There is some interest from the Young Adult Librarian to do a program this summer which would teach the kids how to make theit own hoop and then get them started on the basic moves. It is part of a Fit For Life grant that was written in order to encourage teens to get active. I had a friend that was interested in gathering the materials and the doing the workshop but she will be moving and is no longer able to do it. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who would be interested in doing this one afternoon this summer. The library would cover the costs of the materials and time. In that case, I need to know what the cost would be for a group of 15 -20 teens. The YA Librarian is in need of answer rather quickly soif you could get back to me with any info- that would be great. I will also check with the YA librarian to see if there is a specific date in mind.

Alright everyone, this will be a mass email for many tribes, but please bare with me.

So first I have to say. Starting tomorrow, we're going to get a hooper jam fest on the way. We're meeting at my house (4388 dale Ave, La Mesa CA, 91941) around 7:00pm to just jam it out something funky, with practice, skill exchange and all the trimmings. Please try and make it if you can. This is the first practice, so we're going try and feel out the size of our class and possibly move somewhere bigger as necessity requires.

Next. And please give me feedback on this!!!!!!!!
Baxter from North Carolina (the father of warrior/samurai stlye hooping) is going to be here from april 4th through the 6th. Him and I have been talking about setting up a San Diego class. I really need your advise (you sexy hooping bitches everywhere) on if we can make this possible. I have some space options, but pending on time (which baxter would like to have a 3hour block.) and attendees will make the difference of where this will be.

Please let me know what you think. I love you everyone and hope to develop the "SoCal Hooping Army" more and more everyday.

I met a wonderful lady who called herself 'Piggy' at the Deep End at Burning Man this year. She was a hooper and gave me some basic pointers. I had a blast doing what little I could do. Now, I'm excited to learn more. She just put people under a spell with her beautiful, lyrical movements. She inspired me. I want to learn. Do any of you happen to know of any teachers or other reasources a girl on the coast of NC could put to use? I would be grateful.

Here are the updated details on where we are going to meet:

So you can enter the parade staging area at Park and Lincoln (which is one block from Park and University . At Lincoln and Park you will see people staging for the parade. Walk into the staging area to the second street which is Normal make a right and look for staging spot Zone M spot 104 (Knowcrystal.org) We will have banners on the side of the suv that say www.knowcrystal.org also look for a shaded chill area at our spot. San Diego Pride Parade July 29th***Update

Hello all you wonderful performers. Hope this finds you doing well. I just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Elysium festival so I am feeling even more alive and creative. We picked up some more performers for the parade so the vision keeps expanding. Im so excited.

So here are as many of the details I have at this time for the parade. The parade starts at 11am. Our met time is scheduled for 9:30 am. Exact spot will be forward to you when we get it (its near University and Centre st in Hillcrest). Parking near the parade will be tight so you want to get there early. FOR THE LA HOOPERS COMING DOWN, I have arranged for parking for up to 3 cars. You can park at Dancing Heart Spa which is located at 3980 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92103. Those that are driving down let me know and I will give you detailed directions on how to find your parking spot. It is only 1 block from the start of the parade.

For those of you who don't know me, I do everything in style. So this is what we have arranged for you. We will be meeting at our parade start spot at 9:30 (we will be there from 8:45 on). We will be providing everyone with a hot breakfast and mimosas for those who want them. We will have a chill and stretch area for you to relax in before the parade. We have someone giving you a bit of chair massage (still working on this).

The actual parade starts at 11am. We are the 6th spot in the parade. Which is awesome because everyones energy is really up. We have a strong sound system that will carry far. The music is basically upbeat dance music (songs that send the message of personal pride). There will also be some tribal beats and some classics such as "We are Family" etc. If anyone wants more details on the music to practice let me know.

We have a good group of volunters to support all the performers. They will be doing crowd control, going around with towels for you to dry off (its going to be hot and your going to sweat), they will be spritzing you with water, and be coming around with bottled water for you. You will have lots of assistance. We will have a couple of coolers with lots water and refreshments coming with us through the parade.

So this is the vision. We are performing supporting a crystal meth recovery site. Its a heavy topic. The message we are sending by being in the parade is we want people to see how much fun they can have and how much fun life is. The energy of all these hoops going at once is going to really pull people in. We also have some poi spinners and stilt walkers. Just think how wonderful this is going to be to people who have not seen this before. Wow.

Everyone is to wear white. Don't want to crush artistic expression but we want to show unity. The hoopers will go first, poi spinners behind them, stilt walkers last.

Hello Hoopers, We are in need of more hoopers for the San Diego Pride Parade on July 29th starting at 10am. At least 30 hoopers are needed. If you have not been a part of the parade before your in for a real treat. Its an awesome event, very well organized and a lot of outdoor fun.

Also looking for poi spinners, stilt walkers, jugglers or any other unique performers.

It's about time to get the year started right and have a hooping workshop. This Saturday, February 11th, I'll be hosting one at Mission Bay. It will start at 11 am and go until 12:30.
