OMG - it's closed. I was across the street and I saw one of those big white signs for change of ownership. What happened?

People that worked there really hated the management.
Plus, I think comfort food is loosing its appeal. It was a fad.

Tue, March 25, 2008 - 1:10 PMyeah i noticed this a week or so ago as well. it just felt like, when they recently re-opened, that it was a half-hearted attempt at best. there didn't seem to be any really energy radiating from the place. -

Tue, March 25, 2008 - 1:14 PMI had never been in all my years in SF and the Bay Area. I guess I will not be going now.

Re: the last supper club - closed
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 2:07 PMi only went once, years ago, to the 'old' Julie's for a birthday dinner. and was not impressed. the food was passable at best. and music blaring too loudly through tiny speakers. at least the service was genuinely nice enough. still, i never considered returning. -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 2:31 PMAt least we are fortunate enough to have 10,000 other choices in the Bay Area...too many choices is a different kind of problem though.

Re: the last supper club - closed
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 6:43 PMI tried to go there the weekend before last, and they were closed, no menus up, drapes shut. Sad, because I liked their brunches and they're really close to my house. :( -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 8:37 AMhow many more pizzerias do you think they can fit on Valencia?!? -
-
Re: the last supper club - closed
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 9:34 AMMy experiences at the LSC were always nice. Great cocktails and friendly staff. I enjoyed the free appetizers at happy hour and the decor was warm. The new place had a private party over the weekend so perhaps they are close to opening. I wouldn't exactly call the new place a pizzeria ala checkered table cloths. More along the lines of cocktails and gourmet pizzas, anti-pasti.
Please do tell I have only been in the area for 7 mths. where are all the pizzerias you are referring to on Valencia:
there's Valencia Pizza and Pasta and then there's uh something Star and... -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 10:02 AMIs there a little star on Valencia? The little star on divisidero (by the Indy) is the best Chicago style pizza in the bay area. Blows the doors of zachary's (which isn't bad) as they nail the cornmeal crust. -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Thu, April 3, 2008 - 10:14 AMhere's a few:
260 valencia pauline’s pizza
400 little star pizza
509 arinell pizza
535 cable car pizza
801 valencia pizza & pasta
3621 18th street Delfina’s pizzeria
Zante’s Indian pizza way up at Mission & Cortland
I realized after my last post though, that there probably aren't any more pizza places on Valencia than there are burrito places on Mission. I just don't know how there can be SOOO much demand for pizza to keep them all so busy, but I guess if people get hungry for pizza, they can go to Valencia and find SOME place that can seat and feed them! -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 7:35 AMHow can you possibly not mention Sorella's? they are the best and located on 21st at Valencia.
I have been getting pizza from them about 2X per month for about say, 13 years?? -

Re: the last supper club - closed
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 7:36 AMoops I mean Serrano's. I always mix up the name but not the place. -
-
Re: the last supper club - closed
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 8:27 AMI didn't mention "Sorella's" because I had forgotten about it until after I posted my last post, but when I DID remember it, I at least remembered it as Serrano's and not your made up name! So that is an "oops" for both of us, Leslie.
Mea culpa to Serrano's and all of its dedicated pizza-lovin' fans!

Fri, April 4, 2008 - 8:56 AMyes, the Little Star on Valencia is just as good as the one on Divis.
For the love of God, don't tell anyone from the East Bay that it is better than Zachary's... :)
