Hi, I am looking for some suggestions for high-end dining in Napa or Sonoma. Obviously, French Laundry is #1, but impossible to get reservations at.
thanks!

Re: High-end dining in Napa or Sonoma?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 12:31 PMI've always enjoyed The Girl & The Fig: www.thegirlandthefig.com/html-...x.html
Its very nice, though not nearly as upscale as French Laundry. The service is fantastic though, as is the food. The cheese plates are especially tasty and fun to share.

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 1:30 PMWell I haven't been to any of these since I'm pretty much broke, BUT here are some places that I always hear good things about and will eventually try out once I hit the lotto.
Cyrus, Healdsburg
Farm House Inn, Forestville
Underwood, Graton (my teeny tiny hometown!)
These are all in Sonoma County, but I just realized you may have meant the towns of Napa or Sonoma. In which case, please disregard! :-) -

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 3:39 PMI've heard good things about Cyrus, but I haven't been yet. Also on my list.
I'd also check out ad hoc. It's not high-end but the execution of the food is very good. -

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 5:24 PMBistro Don Giovanni always appealed to me (though never have been). Heard ol' George Clooney was there recently. -

They have done pairings at Freemark Abbey before and they are always great.

I love Don Giovanni. If it's not too hot I would recommend sitting on the patio. It's very easy to waste away an entire afternoon.
I also like Bouchon in Yountville. I've heard good things about Bistro Jeanty but never been.
Whatever you do steer clear of Mustards.

Mon, May 12, 2008 - 10:29 PMI highly recommend Terra. It's one of the places French Laundry sends folks to: www.terrarestaurant.com/

Wed, May 21, 2008 - 5:27 PMAuberge
Domain Chandon
I haven't been in maybe 10 years but I had a great meal and fun time at the CIA at Greystone. My memory was that it's a bit more casual and fun for groups and sharing.

Re: High-end dining in Napa or Sonoma?
Wed, June 4, 2008 - 5:14 PMI forgot about La Toque - similar to French Laundry with the prix fixe menu, less $$. Michelin rated. Had a friend leave town to go work there. Hmmm...reminds me...I think I need to call him.
