The cupcakes at Baked. in Potrero Hill are really good. They only have three or four flavors but they are excellent. They do use a lot of buttercream frosting on top which isn't to everyone's liking.

Ah, come on. Gourmet donuts are so over too. The bakery in Portland (Voodoo) was even on Globe Trekker years ago. But, if ya like them then Dynamo is the place to go. I have no problem being so old fashion and loving a good cupcake. Citizen Cake doesn't do it for me. Not a lot of flavor there, at least in what I had. I am anxious to try Baked suggested above. Lot's of butter cream frosting is never a bad thing for me, as long as it's good butter cream.

I was told that the latest thing is the Hopia at Hilda's and they are wonderful. It's not really in the cupcake category, but it's way more current than gourmet donuts. Just saying what I've been told.
